Sending special thoughts and prayers to @Bronx's dad - as he mourns the loss of his precious Bronx. :bighug:

It's Friday already!!! The last day of my 'vacation' at least from work...and it's been a busy one. I've finally gathered up everything I need to make that coleslaw  and then by the time we got home from the store it was too late and I was too tired and it was time for Luci's routine (test/feed/shoot)..oh well, maybe later this morning??

Luci's vet visit went well yesterday - it was just for our vet here to take a look at her cast and make sure that she's getting good circulation and the cast hasn't slipped down. And although she was giving them the business with her growling and grumbling we were able to get her on the scale - she's holding her weight well at 11 pounds - that's the weight she was at before she was diagnosed with FD two years ago. Interesting, we're coming up on that diagnosis date again - and here it is two years later and although she's not in remission, she's really doing fabulously. Sassy and owning the place! :D:D

The plan now is to take her back on 12/12 for pre-dental labs and an x-ray of her leg to make sure she's healed up - then get her in for the dental and cast removal since she'll need to be sedated for both. I discussed her diabetes and management with him and he said that it really is up to the 'people' to determine how well their cats do with this disease. He mentioned that some people will not do a thing to help their cats, feeding them anything and giving insulin, but they don't test and their cats end up back at the hospital in ketoacidosis and crashing...he's a really nice vet and depends on the beans to do the work (caring for diabetic kitties is a labor of love) ...he did recommend that I get some 'DM dry' for her...and I kindly told him that I rarely feed her dry and when I do she gets a little Dr. Elsey's...well I hope I sounded kind...no way was I going to buy any DM dry food...sheesh.

So that's it for today...hoping to get out for a walk and a swim this morning - it's so warm and lovely and I'm loving every minute of this weather. Luci loves the heat on the lanai and just wants to hang out there all day - only coming in for LB and food. I've even put her a water bowl out there so she can have easy access to that...food isn't a good idea because of the ants...she'll just have to hobble to her feeding area for the usual.

Have a great day everyone! Hope all of your kitties are well and happy today.:bighug::bighug:

So the walk and the swim will occur after the coleslaw is made I assume?:smuggrin::smuggrin:

Naw....walking comes first as it gets a bit (a lot) too warm for me to be out there in the heat...not complaining now mind you...but I have to do that as early as I can...otherwise I'm too old and too fat to add exercise to 83 degrees and humidity... coleslaw moving down the list to later in the day ... :)

Great update for the vet visit ! Such a good thing to have cast removal and dental at the same time, so much less stress!
I would also go walking and swimming way before preparing coleslaw....:p
    Enjoy your nice weather Sue!

I appreciate the way he thinks! It just makes sense to reduce her stress and our expense of having two sedations for two different things doesn't it? :)
