First, let me say thank you to everyone that offered prayers and well wishes while Luna was hospitalized. I didn't get a chance to respond to many of you, but we appreciated all of the positive energy. Things didn't look good a few times, so hearing someone say everything would be ok certainly helped on those bad days. Luna is doing well. We didn't sleep much last night, but she did. My wife said Luna slept right up against her at one point and that never happens, so I think she missed us a little. Every noise I'd wake up to check on her and then got a BG reading from the Libre...which is amazing so far. I'm probably scanning too much, but it's interesting to see how her BG changes. I'll get back to updating the spreadsheet soon so everyone can see the craziness that is Luna's BG. She was in her litter box a lot and would dig forever. She didn't have a proper litter box in her small ICU cage, so she's happy to have that back. Still hasn't eaten for us, but the doctor said it could take a few days and not to assume it's the food. We're going to try another kind recommended by the nutritionist to see if she's just being picky. Wouldn't be the first time. We're hanging out in the 300s, so they want us to try 1.5U tonight. We're going to be following our doctor's plan for a while, so don't be surprised to see the same dose over and over. He's speaking to a diabetes specialist that has experience with the freestyle libre, so we'll wait to see if they can come up with a treatment plan moving forward. The hospital got a taste of what we deal with when she gave them that 47 yesterday, so I think they know she's not a typical case. Thank you again for all of your support and concern for Luna.
Another ADORABLE photo! Sending love & light to beautiful Luna and you & your wife. SO glad the Libre is working out for you. When Phoebe Squeak first had it on I was scanning several times an hour. It's so cool to have all that info!
So far, so good. She's starting to get a little bit of energy back, so I'm not sure how long it will stay attached. But I think she's more annoyed by the feeding tube
Tears of Joy - she is so beautiful and is relaxing so well - she's taking deep sighs of relief. That little girl is very happy to be home! I hope you've told her how many people care about her Super happy the Libre is working well so far. Enjoy the rest of the day!
Great news! Cute pic of her in her little 'cat cave' too! So glad to hear she's doing better - so great that she's home and back to her own LB... Continuing to send prayers and vines for healing.
Welcome home Luna. Loving her fluffy cheeks, give her a scritch from me. I just wanted to say that there are quite a few very experienced members that have dealt with DKA prone kitties and kitties recovering from DKA, if you are not 'feeling it' from the vets, or simply want to sound something out, just ask, you know where we are.
Congrats on having your kitty at home. I'm sure everyone's stress level, expecially Luna's, could use a break.
So delighted to see Luna enjoying her cave and love the story about the LB. I'm sure she is thrilled to be back in the TLC of her family and in her own environment and will recover quickly from here on in.
LOVE the picture ! She looks SO happy to be home!! It sounds like Luna has such an awesome team! Scan away....after all the time you have spent trying to figure things out, it is nice that you will finally get to see the dynamic version of what is happening inside that adorable little body of hers! Continued prayers & healing being sent your way! Enjoy your first weekend home & hopefully get some much needed rest.
