My heart and hugs going out to Sina this morning as her heart and soul try to comprehend and cope with Sooties sudden flight:rb_icon:.
There are tears at another heart shaped hole in the tapestry of LL today...we will stitch a beautiful Sootie patch with love to help Sina and her DH and tribe..:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

AMBG 112  ( But it's a Gussie Blue so I'm not freaking out..and it's on the heels of throwing up)

Woke to Gussie throwing up again..this time I put 1/4 Pepcid tab onboard. We have not used that in several weeks so thought it might be more productive towards eating after vomit if we get the stomach calmed down..maybe acid stomach was part of this cycle of food resistance..I'm kind of grasping at anything I can right now..

It may have worked for this meal at least. He ate just over 1/4 can FF Beef classic. And is laying down in a romantic post meal snooze. He is not curled into a meatloaf position but is laying in a relaxed position mirroring the others so I am hopeful this will be a better day for him..

Tears and hugs:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:as we all mourn Sooties journey
Surf safely kitties, your Beans are heavy of heart today..:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
Vines going out to all today :bighug:

If he's liking canned more than raw these days you might consider some ZiwiPeak if it's in the budget. When Doodles first started eating wet food he loved the FF Beef and a few other flavors and then he got soo sick. Then again he has IBD but most FF flavors have nasty fish hidden in the ingredients. Anyway, sending mega feel better vines and prayers for Mr. Gussie.

Thanks for the tip Karen..yes I'm not happy about any of them trending to this FF routine..it gave Jett colitis. I will stop by the good store on my tri- city travels to pick up his meds and pick up some ZiwiPeak. I think they carry it.
Thank you! Any particular flavors?
ETA and I see there is canned and pouches..which do I get given he's diabetic??

FYI, PSW may still have some ZiwiPeak cans in the back that were for special order for me. We did not buy them all. Just ask. I don't know if they put them out eventually , or send them back or what.
Hugs and vines to Gussie to get back on board with eating. Seems to be the trend lately! Taffy is being picky, too.

Sorry to hear appetite issues persist I agree with Karen ziwipeak is the best but Murphy goes in spurts where he won't eat it (currently) Natures Logic is a very good brand Its very hard to find something :bighug::bighug:

Sorry about the early vomit. The time to give Pepcid is before bed to prevent throw up from an empty stomach in the morning, not after vomiting. Feel better Gussie. :bighug:

Thanks Julie! Will give them a call..

Thanks Elise, will make sure I do that tonite. :bighug::bighug:
As I recall when it happened in the past and he got Pepcid at night he was okay in the morning. Some acid is necessary to digest food so to give it before eating defeats the purpose I think. It's going long periods of time without food, like overnight, that often is the problem. It's often associated with kidney disease but he doesn't have it so there must be another cause. I'm sure there must be lots of possibilities.

Thanks Elise, it's probably the pancreatitis still right?
Makes sense when you describe it. I was thinking it stopped it like a tums or Pepcid complete does for heartburn. But makes sense to give it over nite:bighug::bighug:
Do you use an auto feeder? Or try and give him 3/4 freeze dry treats early. Kinda like soda crackers for an upset tummy.

FD treats shouldn't affect his PS #'s.

Just a suggestion.
haha no I tried one, gave it to @Taffysmama because mine wouldn't learn to use it. Gus slept thru it and Lola retreated into another room, Civvie Jett who needs no extra calories aporoached it as if it was going to explode, eating its contents from a low bellied stretch!

Has anyone heard of a food called Feline Naturals? They said at the shop it is like Ziwi, free range meat, hi protein, no carbs...haven't bought any yet
Just now: snuggling in one of my robes

Aw thanks Chef Rusty! I bet that would do the trick!!:bighug::bighug:spunds scrumptious!!
Looks like I'm going to have to go get another roast chicken and figure out this bone broth thing....:nailbiting:

Sending feel better vines for Gussie. :bighug:

I have some Feline Naturals canned but the company did not have the wet food as-fed values when I got it. Their freeze dried is LC, but the chicken and venison was a little high phosphorus for Neko. I did offer her the canned chicken and lamb, but she snubbed it.

Most bone broths for humans are made with onions, so not good for cats. Reminds me, time to get up and put the turkey carcass in the soup pot.

Hi thanks Wendy.
Just offered it to mine, civvies Jett ate some of the chicken, nobody else would touch it. Gus refusing everything. Zofran an hour ago, Cypro just now 1/8 tablet. I am at my wits end at how to get enough nutrition in him. I'm afraid I'm not winning this battle....

Have you done any assist feeding? That would often prime the pump for Neko.
I have tried..it really does not go well for either of us....I may be getting close to that...I'm thinking an ultrasound is a good idea as I don't seem to be helping him...he will eat some baby food, a little at a time but I'm not ok with that being the sum total of his nutrition as I know it's not good for him.
This is at the point that it is scaring me..

Max really liked Feline Natural freeze dried lamb and chicken. Have you tried both gerbers and Beechut baby food? My cats didn't like beechnut but did like gerbers. Both liked ham and beef but one didn't like chicken and the other turkey. It's okay for several days if you add taurine. If his appy doesn't pick up with the appy stimulant I guess an ultrasound is a good idea but withou vomiting his food I'm still inclined to think it's pancreatitis causing the lack of appy. Eat Gussie.

I've been doing Beechnut I think, will try to find Gerbers tomorrow. He is marching around here acting hungry but turning his nose up at everything..I don't know what he's seeking but half a case of food later in the trash and 7 jars of baby food I think he's maybe eaten half a can of food total. He did poop today, at least I think it was him..too small for Jett, wrong place to be Lola so leaves hopefully it was him. .maybe that will help.
I'm going to get his meds in him and we are going to call it a night. Wanted to give him some fluids but he literally took off running and snarling. It really is a miracle he put up with all that went into getting him off insulin.

Ralph's sells gerbers. It also sounds like he might be constipated. Are you giving him miralax every day? If so how much and how many times a day? Zofran can cause it. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Just up for a few min. Maybe ask your vet for Maxcal canned. It's 300 calories a can so if he'll eat a little it goes a long way for calorie intake

(((Les))) I am so sorry Gussie still isn't feeling very well. I am sending all my best, eat your fuds vines!! :bighug::bighug:

I like what Karen mentioned about getting some maxcal. Lots of calories in it and if you need to syringe feed, you won't need to do as much.

Also try AD. It's not as high cal as Maxcal but many cats love it. I've given AD to Max during pancreatitis flares and he ate it sometimes. Have you weighed him? I think u need to syringe feed if he's losing. I can send you some good syringes if you need them.
