Hi Sarah, congrats on the green and you are right to want to test a lot tonight. That is quite a drop between AMPS and +3. Uncle used to do that A LOT!!!
Please put the little blue question mark in front of your thread to get more attention. I will be on with you and make sure you get at least one of the more experienced people on to give you good advice.

Just a quick FYI. Don't wait till he drops to 40 to feed MC. 40 is very low and you need HC for anything under 50
Thanks, I went to grad school yet feel really dumb when it comes to this stuff. I keep rereading the stickies, but it is taking some time to sink in and make sense..

Do you usually feed samb

I know exactly what you mean. There is SO much to take in. It really can't all be done in one fell swoop. Plus, a lot of things aren't relevant until they are, if you know what I mean.

Do you usually feed Samba a meal at +2 or +3?

Congrats on your first green! It's exciting and scary at the same time. But you got this, Sarah!!! BTW... Samba is SOO cute!!!!!

I feed him before his shots and at +3 and +6, so he got 1/2 a can of fancy feast at +3 tonight when his # was 92, and at +4 it went down to 57

Hi Sarah, do you know what Samba's nadir's usually are? I am looking at your ss and don't see a lot of data yet but I see that you just started home monitoring. This is great and the best thing you can do for your kitty and your own piece of mind.

I noticed you increased on 2/7 and made a note that the increase was because Samba's nadir numbers were above 100-200. Is your SS up to date? We are only a few months in ourselves, but in my case, I am pretty conservative about increasing and want to have a bit more data on hand to really confirm how my kitty is acting on the current dose before going up to the next one. I am not saying you did anything wrong and you may have even been advised to increase from other more experienced members on this board (I am admittedly not one of those folks!), but I guess I'm just suggesting that you might want to get more data on Samba before making adjustments in the dose.

My SS is up to date; I'm sorry that I don't have more data. Also, the dose increase was preemptive on my part, and I had a convo with @Wendy&Neko about it... Sorry for my mistake. When I said that his nadir numbers were between 100-200, I meant that his lowest points that I had tested were within that range (not necessarily at +6). In the future, I will be more careful. Thanks so much for letting me know though because I really don't know what I'm doing! I keep telling Samba we are going to be pros at this soon

Good to see you're on too! Us West Coasters are just gettin' started!

Uncle was 57 at +4 last night too. I gave him a couple of teaspoons of 13% gravy and he ended up surfing.
I gave him one teaspoon of the 13% chicken feast in gravy, and he gobbled it up and is currently grooming himself like 'why is everyone even fussing over me?'

Morning, just getting u here. That's quite a steep drop. Hopefully the snacks will keep him surfing, I should test him again no later than +5.5 (45 min after the last test snack), I'm thinking it's about +5.25 now you could get a test now.

If he does drop below 50, then you will need to bring out the hc and move to testing every 20min.

I'm around for an hour or so then have to go out. Hopefully he'll come up before then.

Good to see you. You missed an Uncle all-nighter last night!

Samba is really cute!

You're doing a great job - doling out food to keep a green surf going is great. When a cat's body is in green numbers, the potential exists for their pancreas to heal, if that is possible. So keep up doing what you are doing.

If he drops below 50, pop open the can of high carb, put the lid back on and squeeze to get the gravy only out. Give about a teaspoon of the gravy, then post here. He might not go below 50 since he's pretty much surfing (his blood sugar is staying fairly flat) at this point.

Thank you so much. That is extremely helpful

If Samba continues to come up on his own without any more MC food/gravy, you will be able to get some sleep.

However you will want to make sure he is holding his own after the MC has worn off (that would apply to HC as well if you had given him any).
I have been advised that the time frame for that is 2 hours.
