Day started out good with a blue PS, then went downhill (uphill really) from there....not sure how he rounded out a 139 @ +8 but glad to see him back in blues. Curious what Ozzy's PMPS will be.

Hope everyone is enjoying their Caturday..

:bighug:Hey Cali Girl !!!! Been thinking about you today :bighug:. Glad you got a 3 day weekend to do all things Ozzy/Figgie and hopefully Jo :):):):). Made me sad when I read ur post last night on food frustration...u seem to be someone who it takes a lot to discourage so it made my heart sad.:( Elmo doesn't throw up but just when I think I've found a food he will somewhat consistently eat he turns up his nose. I am hampered by low carb, low phos(kidneys) , no fish ( thyroid). Once I get finished taking my mom for cortisone injections I believe I will try EZ Complete. I understand how disheartening it can be when u do the best u can .......it's really all we can do and be determined not to let it lay on us like a heavy wet blanket. Know I am praying that whatever is causing sweet Ozzy's belly upset that it will stop .....hate it for you and for him:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Started a new lantus pen tonight. Had about a week left in the other pen but with overdraws for pulling the dose, I wasn't sure which day we would end on and wanted to start Ozzy on the new pen while we have a few cycles to monitor (potency issues and all).

My first pen was started on 12/31 and we only made it to mid Feb. We definitely overdrew a lot while we were getting used to how to work with the pen. But folks said it should last like 6 months. I thought the pen was 300units, but double checked today and nope- mine is 100 units. So if you dose 1 unit 2×s a day, you are only going to get 50 days worth and this does not include over drawing the dose to get the correct amount in the syringe and push out air bubbles.

ETA: Well, I screwed this up again. I triple checked and the pen is 100 units PER ML. So 3ML = 300 units. I don't know what the heck we did with the first pen to blow through it so fast. Ozzy never took more than 1.25U per dose so we should have gotten way more use out of this pen. It appears that I like to burn money! Going to be much more conservative with this new pen.

Thanks Beth. I always appreciate your kind sweet words of encouragement. They always make my day. I definitely try to be positive and logical about all this, but sometimes I get down in the dumps too. This process is frustrating and I really just want my (former fat) cat to like his food and more importantly for it to be healthy for him and for him to not get an upset tummy all the time. I love him. I want him to be well and happy and not sad and sick.

My kitty used to LOVE food and would scarf it down and come running for every meal. I'm an Italian... Italians love food and Italian women love feeding OTHER people food! I loved seeing my kitty love his food. It breaks my heart that no matter what I feed him now, he just eats it but doesn't seem to really love it, if you know what I mean. I am constantly having to put treat toppers on their food to encourage them to eat it. Ozzy was a carbaholic; I am not sure that any kind of wet food is going to satiate his appetite like dry food did. I have read a lot about Young Ago Zero Carb food and I'm tempted sometimes (like when Ozzy is having these issues we have been going through) to maybe want to try it out (another member here switched her cat to this and he went into remission), but then I keep hearing the others saying NO DRY FOOD! I feel like I have the little red devil on one shoulder saying, 'go ahead...your kitty will love it...and it's zero carbs..it can't possibly be bad for him...and he will love it..he loves dry.. you know this mamabean...don't you want to make your sweet baby kitty happy???" And then on the other shoulder I have the white angel saying, "NO NO NO NO NO DRY FOOD!!! This is what got you here to begin with. Ozzy will adjust to the wet food, just give it time mamabean. BE PATIENT! You love him more than anything and if you keep him on the wet it is the best thing you can do for him.. Feeding dry will only cause more health problems down the line and don't forget he is already 8 years old.." It's quite an internal conflict!!!

Awwww, Jo, I can just see that little demon and angel now ;) . It's not just about getting our babies to eat but seeing them enjoy it and like us , what's Healthy isn't always so tasty:(...bummer....:(:(:(. You r such a great momma to ur boys and I'm hoping you can find food that they enjoy and makes u feel good about feeding . :bighug::bighug::bighug: You so deserve that :)

Hey there, just wanted to check in and say hi. I understand your predicament and the stress it causes. So far that hasn't been one of Uncle's issues but his little brother was very sick and at times would refuse food or like something for 2 days then reject it. SO HARD! I'm Sicilian and grew up in my family's restaurant, food was the center of the universe :)

It's kind of like feeding your kids spinach....you know it's better for them than potato chips, but the smiles you get when they're munching those chips are so much nicer than the faces you get when you offer them the spinach

Good luck with the new pen! Now that you have your technique down better, I'm sure this one will last longer....I had to toss one with about 2ml left in it yesterday because it had become cloudy...felt like throwing money in the trash
