Happy COLD FRIDAY the 13th, everyone,

The temperature was -15 this morning and with the wind chill it was -35. Rusty and his beans snuggled in their bed! But we had to get up for AMPS, so we did. Rusty ate all of his nighttime food and has eaten the first sitting of breakfast. He is still liking Newman's 95% chicken and chicken liver. Thanks again, to Marje, for figuring out the percentage of carbs in the Newman's 95% turkey (about 3%). I'm going to assume that the chicken is comparable, or else write to the company again (they only replied to the turkey e-mail).

The LagoonMeister is poised at the edge of the lagoon and wants all kitties who visit the lagoon today to surf safe.

Wishing all a fine day. TGIF!

Nice start, right on the edge of the lagoon! Hmmmmm....I wonder if I should try Newman's with Trix? I am afraid to rock her boat, though, since she's doing so well. But it would be nice to have more variety. I'm glad Rusty is loving it!!

Ok, I won't whine about how cold it is here today now that I see what you've got...at least we're in the positive teens (with a wicked wind chill, although I don't know the actual value).

Have a great day, and stay warm!!

I think I'd head BTB w/ Rusty w/ temps like that. Doesn't seem to have bothered his BGs though.

Newman's Own looks interesting, but on Tanya's list it looks like it might be pretty high in phosphorus. If you contact them could you get that info too?

I couldn't find that flavor of Newman's Own on Tanya's list, but the others are in the 200s.

Rusty, have you warmed up enough to go for a swim? I guess you can see the lagoon from where you started. Please keep an eye on all the kitties frolicking today. You know they can get a little rowdy!

Sending warm up vines.

Nice blues for Rusty. Maybe he'll visit the lagoon tonight. That is cold. We're supposed to get to single digits Saturday night. We finally got a dusting of snow yesterday and may get another dusting tonight.

A bunch of kookaburras have been going crazy here this morning with their distinctive chortling/laughter made me think of you as I think you'd enjoy them very much. It's really cute to see them from underneath when they're in a tree branch - they look like they have kitty fluffy pants!

Hey Rusty party in the lagoon tonight? I hear that China's been skinny dipping down there, I wanna get nekked too!

Good day for the LagoonMeister, sitting on the shore isn't too bad. Nice to find another food! And stay warm. Your winter is brutal.
Liz

Rusty enjoyed a rest day in the grotto, but he may be back on duty in the lagoon later. After lunch he got up on top of the piano and started to play with some of his toys that were stored up there. Then we had a rollicking game with the glitter wand his Auntie Linda gave him and that he hasn't played with in about 2 years! It was great to see him playing again. Then he slept all afternoon!!

@Ann & Tess @Tricia & Cinco : the 95% formulas of Newman's Own organics are near the end of Tanya's list. It looks like they are high in phos, but all the data are in dry matter, which I don't fully understand.

Cold and getting colder outside.

Ella & Rusty

@Vyktors Mum : "Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree . . .". (can't remember the rest of the words, but I remember the tune)

For a minute there, I thought you wrote that Rusty played the piano- it's getting late, I need to go get dinner ready...:rolleyes:

Your temps are way too cold to even contemplate-- stay warm Ella! Go Rusty!

Hey Rusty, you got a warm sweater for next week when we get our bellies shaved? Tiger:cat:

Kookaburra sits on the old gum tree,
Merry merry king of the bush is he.
Laugh, Kookaburra, laugh, Kookaburra,
Gay your life must be!

Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree
Eating all the gumdrops he can see
Stop, Kookaburra, Stop, Kookaburra
Leave some there for me.

Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree,
Counting all the monkeys he can see
Stop, Kookaburra, Stop, Kookaburra,
That's no monkey, that's me.

Liz

@Anne & Zener (GA) : wow, impressive recall Liz!!

Hi again, Looks like we'll be setting an alarm tonight! The LagoonMeister is checking out the deep end. Surf safe!!

It's -12 already (11:30 p.m.). Tomorrow is the Ice Carnival parade in the afternoon. The temperature is actually supposed to warm up to the teens, near 20. But then a really frigid cold front is coming through and the daytime high on Sunday is supposed to be below zero. It's too cold to do anything!

Wishing all a good night.

Ella & Rusty

Surf safe tonight LagoonMeister! I love when older cats play with old toys.

Are you going to the parade? Sounds like the one warm day - relatively speaking. We were in the positive mid teens here too - oops, that's Celcius.

My mum remembered the first verse so I was coming back to post it but liz not only stole my thunder but added two more bolts of her own!

The last verse is weird - we don't have any monkeys here - unless you do count the humans

There's a locally famous kookaburra here - in Kings Park - he will come from nowhere and snatch the food out of your hand as you're lifting it to your mouth
