Good Morning, Everyone,

Keeping Melissa and her family in our thoughts today.

It was -20 degrees at our house this morning (now, 11 A.M., it is +7). Rusty was snuggled in his space between his beans. No one wanted to get up, but we did. Rusty ate all of his nighttime food, some of his breakfast (so far) and is basking in the sunshine on top of the radiator.
This morning I rescheduled Rusty's IM consult and ultrasound for 26 March. It may not be as cold then!! Of course, blizzards are very possible in March. We'll take that chance. Lake Champlain is officially "closed"-- iced over. However, the short ferry crossing we would have taken on Thurs. runs all winter; it is an icebreaker. The other ferry routes are closed until ice out.

Some of our friends are bushwacking up a small mountain today. I wanted to go, but didn't want to chance reinjuring my leg just when it is beginning to heal.

Wishing all a good day. Stay warm and safe in the storms that have hit the south and middle Atlantic!

Sounds cold. Brrrrrrr. I would stay snuggled in bed too. I don't blame you on rescheduling. That is way to cold to trek out in. Good idea on skipping the bushwack. You need to rest that leg. Have a great day Ella!

Morning Ella :coffee::coffee::coffee:

Rusty, dude! What happened with that +5? You are headed the wrong way..... o_O

-20??? Even that +7 tells me WAY TOO COLD! :) I do hope the skies are sunny though. it has to be pretty there, despite all that cold.

I too think it is good you rescheduled Rusty's U/S appt. It should be easier to get around in then, less weather worries, etc.

Bummer on the no bushwhacking for you, but I think it is wise decision. Did something similar to my leg last spring/summer, could barely climb anything let alone hike. so... had to by pass up alot of things while it healed. It really is the better choice. Hopefully come spring you'll be good to go! :)

Have a great day today. ENJOY!

It is so hard to get out of bed on a cold winter morning - especially with a kitty snuggled up to you!

Sorry you had to miss the hike, but I think you were wise to wait. I'm sure you'll have more such opportunities in the future.

Rusty, are you off duty today? Cinco could sure use someone to look for sharks. He doesn't seem to want to come out of the deep end today.

Stay warm, Ella and have a great day!

I hope Rusty gets back to the lagoon soon.

It was 12F here this morning and I didn't want to get out of bed. It's probably for the best that you rescheduled the ultrasound.

BRRRRRRR!!! -20 isn't fit for man nor beast!! It's days like that I feel sorry for the cows in the fields!

Our kitties seem to have figured out there's a better way to live...they might have to put up with our foolishness on occasion, but look at the benefits!

I agree you did the best thing rescheduling...No need to take chances if it's not absolutely necessary

Stay in and stay warm...enjoy those kitty cuddles!

Well, I guess even LagoonMeister's need a day off. 'Course, there's always tonight!

Wise on the rescheduling. Seems like Rusty enjoys the warm and coze of home too much to venture out in an ice-breaking mode!

I agree with others, Ella. As much as bushwhacking up a small mountain may be fun (Gah, I can't believe I said that !!!), healing comes first.

Enjoy the day.

To answer the australiana questions from the other day - it's leading the tucker bag because the tucker bag hangs over the front of the swagman while his Matilda is on his back. The Matilda has all the stuff to keep him warm at night - hence the woman's name ;)

The original poem is by Australia's most famous poet Banjo Patterson. He lived in the late 1800s and early 1900s

Nice that Rustys belly shave is postponed until ( hopefully) the weather is a little warmer :)

Yay for temps in the positive :joyful::joyful::joyful:! I think rescheduling the U/S is a good idea...it's way to chilly out there for a kitty! Nice easy day for Rusty today...hopefully some lagoon action this evening!!

Hi again,
Rusty cleared his little bounce and looks to be on the way back down. He has had good appetite today. He also had a terrific play right before dinner (just after a vist to the litter box). We played with one of his old favorites: Big Bug. (the Cat Dancer toy -- cardboard bits on a wire). He went up on the piano and found it! We also played with Kong Kickerroo and the bell balls. Then he came and sat on the table while we drank our coffee (thank you, Elsa, Kitteh Barista) and drank water out of Edward's glass (a recent thing with him!). I think he senses that he has a reprieve from the trip to VT.
Now he's chillaxin' in his basket. Tomorrow I'm going to the Potsdam Agway to get him some fuds and Whole Life turkey treats, his favorites. They only have one bag and have set it aside for me. It's the only store within 70 miles that carries it.

Hope you all are warm and snug and having a good evening. It's supposed to be not so cold tonight: just a little below zero.

@Vyktors Mum : thanks for the info on Waltzing Matilda. Really interesting!

Nice PS bookends for Rusty today. But now that's he's had a rest day, time for some lagoon action at night!

I just bought some Whole Life Turkey today to try out. I'm sure they'll love it. Whole Life has just started to be available around here. Good luck with the fuds shopping tomorrow. I hope the weather is good enough for the trip.
