Yesterday

Hoping the new dose kicks in tonight. I did use a new pen today. The one that had been started looks like foster mom might have injected air (not knowing otherwise). No floaters or cloudy but there is a big air bubble.

She got an extra snack +9 last night. Civvie Tux woke me to eat, then he didn't eat so Love got it.

I will try to post video of the breathing, have to do it from pc AND remember how to.

This is just the breathing and you can see her head bobble with each breathe.

 

This one is the sound which is not a purr. You might have to turn volume way up. This is not the loudest it has been. Last night you could hear it in the other room over the TV.

 

Paula, Max had some episodes that sounded like that. He had X-rays and my vet thought there might be a heart issue but the radiologist who viewed them said nothing wrong. Six months later he had heart disease. I’m not a vet of course but I’d want this checked out perhaps by a cardiologist. Max had a benign murmur and his echo showed a normal heart. I’ll always wonder if he had seen the cardiologist six months sooner what might have happened. This could be different and I hope it is.

 

Paula, it almost sounds like an obstruction in nasal passages. It looked like on the inhale to me. Maybe some constriction in the lungs?

 

Hi Paula, A big bubble appeared in my pen last fall. I thought it was an air leak or something, but others on the board said that it was common and that if there was no cloudiness or floaties, the pen was OK. So I continued using it and eventually the bubble disappeared.

Rusty has chronic nasal congestion and sometimes sounds similar to Love's sounds on the video (sometimes much noisier). When we first got him the vet thought it might be nasal polyps, but it wasn't. We have had him to an IM specialist twice over the last 8 years with numerous tests, x rays, and sonograms and the specialists found nothing malignant and his heart was always OK. I hope you will find out what Love's condition is. Since you don't know how old she is (we don't know how old Rusty is, either), you don't know what in her early life could have caused a condition like this. Rusty was found wandering the streets in 2008, already a diabetic. He had many broken teeth. Edward has always suspected that he may have had an accident, or was kicked by someone.

 

Elsie, I am already having this checked out. Smokey had the same sounds and my concerns were always discarded. It was a year later when the new associate at the vet wasn't comfortable treating him said to go to ER. It was there that the asthma and enlarged heart led to cardiologist and hcm and heart attack.

Abdomen and chest xrays are normal for Love. I had the cardiopet blood test done and hopefully results will be in tomorrow. If it comes out with high markers, cardiologist will be next. I know this isn't normal.

 

Sandi, I asked about polyps but no was the answer. They didn't check but said ears were okay and somehow that would indicate polyps. So far chest xray was normal at least no fluid or asthma. Her nostrils are small. Sometimes her exhale has a squeak or whistle to it not all the time though. Same thing happens to me when asthma is bad. I can't get air out, so I start coughing when I lay down. Sometimes I can hear the whistle internally. Husband doesn't hear it but I do. Waiting for blood test to come back.

Ella, I kept the previous pen in case it does turn out to be okay. Figured I would try another as her numbers just aren't moving at all. I know she probably needs a lot more insulin yet, it's just disheartening that there is no movement and she feels crappy.

Poor Rusty for his earlier life. He has it good now and that is what counts. I guess you can't really know about a kitties history unless you have had them from the day they are born. Somewhere in Love's life she had an owner as there is a scar from what appears to be a spay. Hopefully she wasn't put out just because she was diabetic.

 

Hoping it’s nothing serious and caught early. I’ll always trust my gut from now on just as you are.

 

Like the vet said, once you have been through a particular ailment or medical issue your more aware of anything that isn't normal. Smokey was the same way, and Love symptoms are just to similar to his.

Hi Paula. Love looks fantastic.
Squallie has done the noise-while-breathing for years. No one could ever find a cause. My current vet says it's because of a "soft trachea"; he can actually touch Squall's neck in a certain place and make him make that noise. I hope that's all it turns out to be for Love. Squall also does the head-bobble thing, but not quite as strongly as Love does. I don't know what it is, but he's done it most of his life. Best to have it all checked out! Hoping it's all as simple as Squallie's issues. Sending good-health vines for Love!

 

She is beautiful and will thrive in your care Paula, no doubt about that!! I know you will find out what this is if it's anything to be concerned with!
