Good morning... if anyone is out there. I wasn't feeling good and I overslept, so Chase got his shot 1 hr 15 min late. I feel terrible about this, but I guess this can happen. I've held him to an almost perfect schedule for well over a month. I don't know what this is going to do, as far as tracking his numbers go, but it is what it is. I'm trying not to beat myself up too bad because.. well... I can do that SO easily. And it won't help anything. :( I've already tested, shot and fed like I normally do. When I opened my eyes I shot out of bed and did everything immediately. This is going to be very tough because a +2 will be all I can get on him.

At this point, I guess the best I can do to get him back on schedule will be to shoot a 1/2 hr early tonight and then again tomorrow morning, etc? If I should do something different, will someone please let me know? :( I wish I could stay home in bed, but I can't miss any work.

It happens sometimes that cats get their insulin late. It might act like a decrease is all. And you have the getting back on schedule right. So tonight shot 1/2 earlier and then tomorrow AM 1/2 hour earlier and the next day and you should be back on track.

I hope you feel better, Sandi :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hey, Sandi,
I see Bobbie has already given you the answers.
It happens, and you have had a lot to deal with, we can relate to the sleep deprivation, I once just clean forgot to give George his shot, only realized when I found the syringe still full of insulin when I went to give the next shot.
He'll be fine.

Thank you, everyone. :bighug: I know things like this can happen, but I'm a perfectionist (in case you couldn't tell) and I just don't want this to hurt Chase. His numbers seem to be making somewhat of a consistent pattern, but I feel like missing tests last night is probably worse than shooting late this morning.

The goal is for his pancreas to heal enough to put out safe amounts of insulin on it's own... right? And if that happens, cats can go off of insulin. It seemed like Chase might have been headed there, but I can't tell, anymore. Seems like his a.m. numbers are a little high, but then with a drop dose they can take a dive. Then in the evening, he seems to more flat, but those numbers are still a little high. I guess it will just take more consistent record keeping and care of Chase to paint more of the "story".

I can't figure out how to make the chart reflect the time with how I tested him so late. I guess just leave it in the notes. I would be inclined to record +13.25 for his 1st test this morning, but the chart isn't set up that way.

Well I'm about to dash off to work. I will get Chase's +2 and record it. I will also leave his food just the way I did it yesterday, putting down the remainder of the 1/2 day mix and then cubes in the feeder. That's the best I can do, today. Thank you, all, for being here. Have a great day! :)

If anyone is here.... Chase is unusually low for this time of day. Should I feed him straight MC food after his shot?

Actually... I'll be here so I can test at +1, +2 AND +3. Maybe better to try and keep up with the same thing I've been doing and then steer him with HC food if I need to.

I would. I'd reserve hc for drops under 50.
Thanks, Tiff. Yeah... he's been getting a mix of MC and LC, with just a 1/2 tsp extra of the MC. That's what he eats every day, now. That's why I was kind if thinking to myself that I could feed him MC straight. But like I said... being consistent is probably better.

What kind of treatment is Maxee on?

Tiff was Max's not biological sister who passed away from lymphoma at the young age of 12. I lost Max in October when he suddenly develop CHF and already had advanced CKD that developed quickly as well. He was 19 so I suppose mostly the result of old age catching up with him. He had chronic pancreatitis for 7 years but was a tightly controlled diabetic on lantus when he went to the bridge. I'm Elise btw.

Oh... well hi, Elise. It's very nice to meet you. I'm so sorry for the loss of your furbabies. How nice of you to pay it forward and help others. Many people seem to be this way. It's very loving. :)
