Hey all,

So I've been going along for about 2 weeks. Been having issues with Emmett stealing dry dog food. It's obviously always because I forgot to cover it or shut a door or something...so I can't blame the Emes, but it's just annoying because I don't know how to proceed with dosing because he's hopped up on dry food.

Subsequently, I've held 6 units for quite some time -- 15 cycles. He had a visit with 88 last night which seemed promising but only to steal crunchies around the 11 hour mark just before PMPS.

Anyway, my question would be...should I hold off the increase or go to 6.5 units? Thanks all!

Oh Emmett....those kibbles are for the drooler not you!

I am not sure on the dose but kind of looks like lots of bouncing in there from the 9 to 13th if there was no crunchie stealing in there. Looks like some progress on this dose.

Ya, me neither. I thought he looked to be making good progress...but still, hasn't had a super good day since the end of April. And that was at 4.0 units.

Hi Rob, just getting online now. I see that you took him up to 6.5 today so I would monitor him as much as you can in the PM cycles. He could be bouncing from the one green on the PM cycle of the 12th and hiked up with getting into the dog kibble.

Hmm...very good point. I actually didn't think/realize that could be the case because I've been so fixated on his kibble addiction. I will watch. He's doing fine now...279 ...so he's come down quite a bit from 5pm. May be a good day tomorrow. I just realized my thread is from June 13...whoops. :)

I am glad you increased. Even though he got to green it was a high green, and since he'd had several days (we hope) without kibble, it probably wasn't a carb increased number.

Now that Emmett is at 6+ units, you might want to think about getting him tested for acromegaly (IGF-1 test) and IAA (insulin auto antibodies). My Neko had both those high dose conditions. One in four diabetic cats has acromegaly, and usually when they get up to six units, there is some other condition causing the insulin resistance. Either one of the two high dose conditions I mentioned could explain his inability to keep holding onto good numbers.
