Maverick has been doing very well, still doing his occasional bounce in the day, drop at night shenanigans. Whenever I try and play around with the carbs, I find something that works for a cycle or two, but then we get horrible duration and high numbers again. Honestly, I never thought it would still be like this. I see all the nice flat cycles that others get, and I often feel like I'm such a failure. But then I see him chase his tail, or wake up at 1:00 am at the sound of him running up and down the hall, or when he finally gets tired and comes up to sleep in my arms...purring and kneeding (reminder to self...time to cut his nails :p), and I'm just so grateful that he's happy and healthy.

He's a bouncy kitty, always will be I think, and maybe Lantus isn't the right insulin for him. I spoke with the vet about this, and they suggested trying Caninsulin...you should have seen the look on my face:stop:. They will write me a script for Levemir, but with my work schedule I'm concerned with the later onset/nadirs. Ah..but to get some better cycles...I don't know, it would be an adjustmeant for sure. So we just keep on until I can make up my mind.

I had the same internal dialogue I can't tell you how many times. Gabby was reasonably well regulated but would happily drive me nuts. I always felt like I'd gotten less than stellar help with her management during the early days of her diagnosis. Ultimately, it was what it was and I did my best. I also thought long and hard about switching to Lev. It wouldn't work with my schedule, either.

Mav is a happy boy and he has you as his caregiver. There's nothing better!

It's frustrating when their numbers go up and down, but we just have to remind ourselves they are more than their numbers. It's great to hear Mav is feeling good. He's lucky to have you.
