Max's herpes/virus/sneezing seems to have stopped but today is the first time I skipped Zyrtec. I had been decreasing it daily but still giving it 2X a day. I am continuing lysine for now but if I don't find him sneezing might cut it back to 250 from 500 twice a day. He's not as hungry today though he did ask for food right before the tfs alarm went off so it might not mean anything. No out of box or in and out tiny pee attempts since last Thursday. I decreased his fluids to 100ml on my own. He does drink and he wasn't dehydrated so I'll see how this goes. That is the good news.

I'm still trying to find replacement foods low in phosphorus and carbs yet without grains since I discovered Nulo is 1.4 or 1.7 and Mauri will need to be ordered by mail and will be expensive with shipping. That leaves me with Weruva/Soulistic chicken which he isn't crazy about and Wellness Turkey which I've read isn't the best for kidney cats. So frustrating.

My mom is really miserable. We were supposed to see her cardiologist today and I feared he would want to put her in the hospital because her kidney numbers have gone up and the fluid around her heart is way up too. She refuses to go so my sister has a call in to see what we should do.

I lucked out from my face hitting the door frame when I tripped over the litter bag I forgot was in the entry way. and my black eye is more red and purple. My mom didn't even notice which is both good and bad.

Prayers and vines to all in need and we could use some too if you gave any to spare.

:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:Tons of hugs, vines, prayers to all of you. I know how hard it is to have a stubborn parent...it's no fun, that is for sure.

All good news about Max. Yes, the food for a diabetic CKD kitty is a pain. You probably know I have to feed Trix Fancy Feast and Purina One with the ConSeal AIH binder...it's really all she'll eat and we reached a point where trying new foods was causing more problems than it was curing. It's a balancing act, but I know you'll get Max figured out....

It sounds like Max is feeling a little better. Hope you can continue to find a food that is best for him. Sending mega prayers and vines for you, Max and your Mom. Hang in there:bighug: :bighug:

Nice to see Max getting better numbers today!!

Can't you get someplace to order in the Mauri for you instead of having it shipped? I'd think in Southern California, there'd be lots of pet food stores and you'd be able to find one that would carry it if you asked!!

Sorry to hear there's more problems with your mom. I know it's never easy, especially when the "patient" won't cooperate and do what they need to do! Mine "cooperates" (or at least she seems to) but instead of just saying "no I won't take it" (her afternoon lasix) she says she forgot....despite the fact I call her to remind her and she always says "I'm taking it right now". I've told her if she really doesn't want to take it, just to say so...but stop telling me you're taking it when you're not!!

Sending lots of :bighug::bighug::bighug: your way!

Hope that eye heals quickly! Darn litter is dangerous just laying around like that for you to trip over :blackeye:;)

Thanks Chris. California has outlawed the sale of kangaroo thanks to animal rights groups.

BTW if China's creatinine is still around 2.5 on recheck I suggest you start feeding lower phosphorus foods too.

What about their other flavors? Aren't they low phosphorus too or does Max not like them?

I don't know what to think about China at this point...her creatinine is worrying, but her SDMA is perfectly normal

The raw she gets is low phosphorus though (Natures Variety Frozen chicken)....I usually only feed it at AM and PM because of cost, but I might try to see if I can swing it and take her off the FF completely

Elise, I have some Mauri 'roo I'll send you. Harvey won't eat it (he's the whole reason we got it  ). Cinco's okay with it, but it's a pain to feed them different things, so I haven't been bothering. I'll throw it in a flat rate box and get it off to you tomorrow. It'll at least give you some more time to find something else. I didn't know 'roo was outlawed here, as I haven't tried to buy any for over a year. Must be a new one - there are always too many new laws for me to keep track of!

I'm glad Max is doing better. His numbers look great! :D

Sending healing vines for your eye (ouch!) and vines and prayer for your DM. :bighug:

The other flavors are high phosphorus unfortunately.

It's good the SDMA is normal. It just hasn't been around long. It could be the creatinine was a fluke. I just know Max was doing great until diabetes and still 2 and under until he took the leaps. I don't mean you need to go real low, just try and avoid foods real high and those that contain bone.

Thanks Tricia. I got the rest of what they had at the store where I was buying the Mauri too. Which Dave's are you feeding and do they like it? What else are you feeding that is low in both? I wish Max like Paw Lickn Chicken.

Mine don't much care for any of the BFF or Weruva. They are pate fans. They don't care for the Dave's 95% chicken, but I know Ann's Tess loved it. I tried Dave's Restricted Diet flavors, but they were not well received (picky cats

).I feed them the Chicken and Herring, Turkey & Giblets, Chicken and Whitefish, and Gobbleicious Gourmet. They will eat the Tuna & Salmon, although it is shredded, as well as the 95% Tuna & Chicken. They like the Beef most times, but not always.

Do you want me to go ahead and send you the 'roo? I will keep a couple of cans, but I really don't think I'll ever use the rest of it.

So sorry to hear about everything being quite the mess today. Sending boatloads of vines to you and Max :bighug:

Forgive me if you already tried this - but can you "doctor up" a food? Maybe add a little something he does like to it to make it more appetizing. For an example, sometimes adding tuna water makes kitty decide she will wanna try that medicine after all.

Good luck!!!

((Elise)), so sorry so much is on your plate right now. :bighug:

Have you looked at home made for Max? Neko gets ever other meal with home made raw, though some of the premixes are OK if you cook it. You probably know about FoodFurLife.

If you really won't use it then I'd love to gave it. Thank you!

Which brand are those foods, Tricia?

Those are the Dave's.
thanks. Are they lowish phosphorus? Sorry. I'll plug in the numbers into the calculator.

Max so far hasn't been a super picky eater unless he is sick. The problem is finding food that is low in both phosphorus and carbs.

Sending so many vines and prayers for your mom, Max and most especially for you!! Take some deep breaths when you can- and know we are all sending you light and love!!! :bighug::bighug::bighug:
