Yesterday at Tricia's House of Chaos

Dosecreases took place this morning. So far, minimal results - Harvey's about the same as yesterday, but Cinco's +3.75 is his lowest reading in a week. However, that could also be because he isn't eating.

Cinco barely touched his first breakfast (must scold DH for not sticking around to be sure he ate ). He did the same with his second breakfast, even after the addition of Forti Flora. I put some freeze-dried salmon on the remains of the first breakfast. No interest in that, either. This is NOT normal. Cinco never refuses food, and on the rare occasions when he's less than enthusiastic, Forti Flora or FD salmon always gets him eating. He had a small (for him) poo this morning, so I don't think he's constipated. He's hanging by his water dish and drinking copious amounts. I haven't seen pee from him yet this morning, but I have the ketostix ready so I can check for ketones. I am at a loss for a reason. I just gave him some Ondansetron with a sliver of Cypro, so we'll see if that improves things. Meanwhile, the helicopter is in the air on high alert. :nailbiting:

Harvey's app is okay. He did eat all his first breakfast and has been grazing on his second. I'm still a bit concerned about him, but not urgently.

I hope everyone else's day started out better!

Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans. :bighug: Still thinking about poor Chewy and beans.:(

Hope Cinco starts eating again soon. Stomper is the same and hardly ever refuses food so that always is a big worry for me when it happens. Hope the ketostix comes back normal. Huge hugs Tricia :bighug:

Sending extra strong appy vines to Cinco.
Hugs to you, Tricia.
You are a super bean.

Thank you, everyone. Cinco is still not himself. Still lying right next to the water dispenser, so all he has to do is lift his head to get a drink. The Cypro and Ondansetron didn't seem to do much, although he has eaten a jar of turkey baby food in two servings. Still refusing cat food. :( He had another poo (again on the carpet not far from his hangout). But no pee yet. I'm lousy at determining if a kitty is dehydrated, but I am wondering if he could be, although no idea why. The poo was pretty good as far as consistency - not too dry or too moist. If he's not better in the morning, I'll call my vet and I know she will see him right away. :nailbiting: Just hate to do it, as he loathes being in the carrier and it's over an hour away. Please keep the vines coming.

Harvey has continued to graze all day. He's been hogging my desk chair, with me perched on the edge during the race.

Hugs Tricia. I have been thinking of you all afternoon since I read your earlier post. Glad that he did eat a little, even if it wasn't cat food, and hopefully starts feeling better soon :bighug:

Adding more appy vines to the pile!! Come on Cinco!! Eat yer fuds boy!!

I know it has to have you terribly worried Tricia, especially since he's usually such a good eater. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Nice to see some action with Harvey's numbers...Hopefully he'll make it down to the lagoon tonight!

Sending lots of appy vines to Cinco this evening. I hope he'll start eating better soon. Feel better, Cinco!

Tricia, I hope it is just one of those things and that Cinco will want to eat soon. Glad that Harvey's numbers are coming down.

Hang in there!

Thanks for the visits and vines. They seem to be helping. I offered Cinco a small serving of FF - no supplements, just food - at t/f/s and he ate it all! :) I waited a little while and gave him a little more, this time with just half his evening supplements. He's eaten a little of it so far. I discovered a damp spot on the carpet near his scratch mat, so I guess he peed there when I wasn't watching (which wasn't a very big window of opportunity). It didn't have an odor, but there isn't anything else it could have been besides pee, so possibly his urine is very dilute due to all the water he's had today. I'll keep watching for an opportunity to test for ketones, but I suspect if he goes it will be on the carpet nearby - he isn't moving very far today at all. I am still seriously considering a vet visit tomorrow, unless things improve a great deal. :nailbiting:

Harvey's appy is still just okay. He ate a small amount of his dinner then went off to get a drink upstairs (guess the water tastes better up there ). I expect him to come back down and graze as he did most of the day.

Not thrilled with the PS numbers tonight, but at least they both came down today and Harvey almost made it to the lagoon. Paws crossed for more progress this evening.

It's been a lazy day of Cinco watching, after the race I mostly just tried to get caught up on some reading, in between helicopter flights. I need to be more active tomorrow, but today I just can't get motivated, and I want to stay in his vicinity, anyway.

Please keep the vines and prayers coming. Thanks so much. :bighug:

After discovering another damp area on the carpet and watching Cinco drink a bunch more water, I was getting more and more worried about DKA (even though his numbers aren't bad and he just started feeling punky this morning - no infection that I know of). I decided to put him in the litter box and see if he would pee, and viola! Negative for ketones! WHEW!!!!:) He had a little trouble getting out of the box, but walked back to his usual hangout normally, so that is a huge, huge relief. I was also concerned that he was moving around very little - the places where I suspect he peed are right next to his bed, and so are the two spots where he pooped. He seemed to only be moving a few inches when he would move at all, so watching him walk all the way back to his area without stopping was a tremendous relief. I was on the verge of taking him to the ER, but now I think I can wait and call his vet in the morning. More vines, please.

Ugh! There goes Cinco, back to pink. :( He has had another jar of baby food and all his evening supplements and meds. I'll offer him some more cat food before I go to bed. Told DH if he won't eat cat food in the morning at t/f/s to give baby food. Must feel a little better - he's on the sofa instead of the floor by the water dispenser.

(((Tricia))) I'm sorry that the boys are being so worrying and not hoovering:(. Yay for no ketones! I'm sending piles and piles of feel better and appy vines for Cinco! I hope he is doing better this morning and his appy has picked up.:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
