Yesterday at Tricia's House of Chaos

First of all, thank you all so very much for all the wonderful messages of support and vines and prayers on our condo from last night. We appreciate it so - we know how powerful L&L Land vines are. Please keep them coming.

Cinco seemed a little perkier this morning, was lying on the sofa instead of by his water dish when I came downstairs. The fluids definitely helped. There was substantial pee on the pee pad by his scratch mat (mostly on the pad, anyway ). He was still snuffling. He had eaten all of his first breakfast, and he ate about 75% of his second. He was moving around in his carrier more than yesterday, seemed more alert, but still didn't voice any complaints. o_O:nailbiting: The resident oncologist on duty today was Dr. Moore, who adores Cinco and always gushes all over him. She was very sad to see that he is having issues. She agreed that it most likely is not a sinus infection (darn!) and was concerned about the symptoms I described, including the rising BGs despite increases. Like Dr. Codde, she fears a return of the cancer. They are doing complete bloodwork, an ultrasound and chest x-rays today. She is going to check to see when the first available CT slot is, but didn't think they'd get him in today. She wants to see the other results first, to see if there is any sign of something that could be causing all, or some of, Cinco's symptoms. Her main concern is cancer elsewhere. He will be there until almost time for t/f/s, and she will call me with an update after the ultrasound, which is scheduled for 2:00 pm PDT. I took a copy of Cinco's spreadsheet, just the last three weeks or so (one full page). Dr. Moore and the tech loved it and were so impressed by it. Dr. Moore said I should teach a class on managing FD! I told her to just tell people to go to felinediabetes.com! I came home to wait, as there is plenty here for me to do and I was concerned about Harvey.

Harvey didn't eat more than a bite of his first breakfast, and about the same of his second, so I gave him some Ondansetron and Cypro and left him with two full plates. When I got home they were both clean as a whistle. :). He's since had two more servings. I'll keep dishing it up as long as he keeps eating. He's not doing much with his new dose, flat, high blue yesterday and flat yellow today, so I think if I don't see anything better tomorrow, we'll go up again on Thursday. DH is wanting me to take him in to see the IM at UCD, but he just had b/w and an exam at his regular vet last month with no red flags. He isn't any worse than he was then, except for the higher BGs. I really don't know what they would do that I'm not doing - if it's the lymphoma getting worse, all they might do is increase the Pred. I'm going to take it day by day, and as long as I can get him to eat and he's not having any tummy issues, we'll keep adjusting his insulin and hoping for the best.

I'm going to grab some lunch and get a load of laundry going. I'll post any updates as I get them.

Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans. :bighug: We're praying for good b/w results and no flare ups for Trixie.

Thanks, everyone.

Dr. Moore just called to say that all the b/w and the u/s show nothing new from the ones run last month. :) They don't have results from the urinalysis yet. Having ruled out everything else, we shift focus to his head and he is scheduled for a CT scan on Thursday afternoon. They will also take some biopsies at that time from his nasal passages. He's been on IV fluids the whole time he's been there, and she wants him to stay a bit longer for that, so I'll be heading back to get him around 5:30. She said he was pretty lethargic at first, but after about half an hour on the fluids he perked up again and was sitting up in his cage for a while. She said if his appetite falters or he seems to not feel well tomorrow I should go ahead and give him more fluids, otherwise we just wait for Thursday. :nailbiting:

I'm relieved that they haven't found anything, but still worried because that makes it more likely it's the cancer back again in his head. She's concerned, too. For one thing, if his kidney values are good (they are), and he's eating (he is), why is he dehydrated? She said she's going to go over everything again to be sure she didn't miss anything, but I'm sure she didn't. Please keep the vines coming. They're helping so far. :bighug:

Vines factory is working overtime and loaded trucks are speeding down the I-5 to your place. :bighug::bighug:

Boys, how about some blue to lighten momma's heart.

Vines and prayers and hugs are being sent by me too. The dehydration sure is a puzzle unless he has a UTI. I sure hope it's something easily fixed line that. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Looks like it's time to haul out the kudzu again!! It's such a powerful vine, we only want to use it in the most special cases (and of course Cinco is one of them!)

They worked last time Cinco was facing something like this!

I'm glad Cinco is perkier and eating! I'm praying for healing, and sending appy and any other kind of vines you all need:bighug::bighug::bighug:. Your neighbors are going to wonder where all the greenery piled in, on and around your house is coming from! Many hugs...

(((Tricia))) I'm so sorry to read yesterday's condo, sending my strongest vines and prayers(Although it would be tough to send more than @Chris & China can send--unfortunately we don't have kudzu here in Washington state LOL!

Thanks for the visits and vines & prayers. I met with Dr. Moore when I went to pick Cinco up, and she didn't have much more to tell me. The urine results came in late and I didn't get the chance to discuss them with her. I'll put all the labs on the SS after I finish this. The CT scan is scheduled for 4 pm on Thursday and they want him there at 9:00 am. The CT people want him fasted overnight, but Dr. Moore and I agreed that we can give him a little food at his normal AMPS (6:00 am, no later) and give him half his normal dose of insulin. He has eaten a little more than half of his dinner so far. He peed on the pad near his scratch mat, then went for a little walk around the family room (so WHY couldn't he have walked to the lb???) He still hasn't said a word, which is really weird.

We got home late for t/f/s, so DH did Harvey in our absence and Cinco when we got home. Harvey ate all of the food Mark gave him, but he didn't want the dinner I fixed him (only difference was supplements in it). He did drink the tuna water I offered him, though (tuna casserole is my go-to meal when I get home late and didn't have anything ready to go). He still didn't want to eat at +3.5, so I gave him some Ondansetron and Cypro. Hopefully that will get him eating tonight. His next ophthalmology appointment is April 13th. I think I want to wait to see what Dr. Canton says. If things are stable there, I'll go ahead and take him in to see the IM. I keep thinking part of his problem might be the eyesight, or the glaucoma. He's hogging most of my desk chair right now.

Piling on more vines and Prayers for both your boys.:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

I think you could be onto something with Harveys glaucoma, if he has a build up of intraocular pressure that could cause pain/discomfort and nausea and may be why you are seeing higher BG and intermittent inappetance from him.

That's what I'm hoping, @Gill & George. Now I just have to wait to see what the Ophthalmologist says.

The Ondansetron and Cypro did it's job - about 90 minutes later Harvey was in the CPC. He's had two more servings since them and will probably eat more if I offer (and I will). :) Right now he's in my lap trying to keep me from typing.

Cinco finally finished his dinner and had a small snack at +3.5. He's snoozing on his bed on the floor.

Just making sure you don't run out of vines anytime soon (hardly likely!) Here's a boat load more coming your way! :bighug::bighug:

Sending prayers for a clear CT scan tomorrow for Cinco...that whole testing process feels like an eternity so I am sending GREAT BIG hugs your way as well, Tricia :bighug::bighug::bighug:. Will be watching to see how everything turns out. Healing wishes also coming for Harvey :cat::cat:
