Hello, Samba's PMPS # tonight was a whopping 512 (the highest I've ever seen it...), and I am trying to figure out what went wrong... I tried a 2nd test strip thinking that it was a mistake, but the 1st reading was actually 543! :banghead::(

This morning, it was a struggle to give him his shot, which is not usually the case. He was growling at me and jumping in the air when the needle would penetrate his skin and trying to bite me. He normally takes it with minimal fuss. I ended up having to hold him down. It's possible in all the effort that he missed some or all of his dose, but I didn't feel his fur to be wet, and I checked after I was done.

Another thing that happened today was that when I came home tonight after being gone at work for 12 hours, there was vomit ALL over the carpet. I'm attaching a picture because it's more vomit than I've seen from him before (sorry if that's gross). I questioned if it was diarrhea instead, but it doesn't smell bad.

Anyway, those are the 2 things today that happened that are out of the ordinary. If this morning's dose was a fur shot, would that explain his high # tonight? I thought with the depot it wouldn't drain that quickly? Any insight is so appreciated...thank you!!

Another thing that I should add is that we are nearing the end of his first Lantus pen. Could the Lantus be losing its efficacy, and could that explain the high number? I have never seen a BG reading this high for him at any time. His very first reading before he started insulin was 460 on the vet's Alphatrak.

Whatever the 512 was about, it's clearing out now and he's dropping fairly quickly. Good job on the hourly testing at this point - it would be good to continue testing until he flattens out tonight.

I don't think I'd worry about the insulin - he got to 65 day before yesterday. Looks like it's working just fine.

Thanks! A little sleep deprived at the moment and I slept through a few of my alarms to wake up and test him, but it seemed to (hopefully) level off in the 200s...
