Took Tyler out to the bottom of the garden after tests, injection , his breakfast as usual and he elected to have a wobbly walk around the house and section which is a good thing to see.

Unfortunately for the rest of the day it does seem that he really cannot control his rear back leg and perhaps even his left leg to some extent. It just collapses beneath him and I have seen him dragging himself by his front paws rather than stand up to take a couple of steps. He does seem to be walking on his toes though when he does walk. Not a planter gait.

My note to myself is that this is a steep decline in his mobility. At the end of August his mobility was perfectly fine . Enough fos us to board him for a few days at a cattery without worry.

Dropped the stool sample into the vet clinic this morning. It was quite reasonably formed so was hopeful it was something that passed through his system and the out again. Sadly though this afternoon has seen the return of the diarrhea.

Tyler has only been given the poached chicken with some pumpkin for quite a while now. Also the boulardii and the SEB. He had the last peptosyl dose on Sunday which may have been the only thing holding this at bay over the long holiday weekend.

Vet and staff both in a flux of changeover this morning so will await the stool result and then we will schedule a two way talk between us and the vet , sans Tyler, to explore all options .

What I do know is that this cannot remain as it is. It is not fair to him & at some point he will stumble and could break a bone.

I hope Tyler improves with his walk. That must be difficult to witness.

Thank you. It is .

I found and bought a small amount of venison in case it is a chicken reaction. Will await the stool results though as messing with the diet confuses the overall picture.

Sorry to read about Tyler :( am going through the same here and waiting for her methyl B12 + folic to arrive in the mail. How long have you had your Tyler on it? Any improvement?

Noticed any difference?

Tyler is probably not the best cat to look at with this at the moment.
He is very elderly and arthritis is in play and may be also some other issue which I am really hoping not right now.

I would say that we do feel we see an improvement on the planter gait here and there. Certainly the planter gait sores on his hocks have improved no end. There again he isn't walking as he was because he is unable to control his rear back legs particularly the right one.
Also note that I cannot give a full wham of B12methyl as Tyler has stage II CKD so would not receive the full benefit of giving the supplement.

His mobility though and his ability to not wobble on his rear legs has worsened though, not improved. As per above, this may not be due to neuropathy although it does display in that way.

Perhaps check in with Juliet and Silver. It helped her pusscat no end. Also Jeff.

Poor guy! But you’re both troopers to hang in there and are certainly putting up a battle. I wish you all the best and more good days than bad!

Thanks for pointing me toward some folks who are also using the B12. I may seek them.
