Yesterday...

Insanely busy day at work today. I'm just now getting around to posting.

Chino got HC last night at +5 when his last meal at +4 did absolutely nothing to slow him down. He got more at +5.5 and +6. I've added a case of 7% cans to my next autoship and will start giving that on the nights that follow a bounce or a flat cycle. I might end up pushing his BG higher if he continues to bounce on some of the nights that I give this, but the benefit will outweigh the consequences if it can keep him from diving (or at least make it easier to slow him down and still get 6-7 hours of sleep).

Just got a +2. I'm amazed by how quickly he's clearing bounces now! He's dropping faster than he was last night, but his BG was higher tonight by 100 mg/dL, so I'll wait to see where he is at +4, then maybe feed some MC with his LC meal. (Or HC if he's already under 200 at that point.)

PMPS = 396 (3rd meal LC 3%)
[10 units Lantus]
+2 = 324
+4 = 195 (4th meal LC 3% with 2 tsp gravy from HC 20%)

Next check at +5. No work tomorrow, so I can stay up for as long as necessary tonight... but I'm hoping to figure out the trick to keeping him safe without having to stay up late tonight.

PMPS = 396 (3rd meal LC 3%)
[10 units Lantus]
+2 = 324
+4 = 195 (4th meal LC 3% with 2 tsp gravy from HC 20%)
+5 = 156

His BG is still dropping, but not as quickly now! :D I just gave him a small piece of freeze-dried chicken. The +6 will tell me if I should've given him more HC. If he continues at this slower rate, he'll still be above 100 at the next check, and I don't want to keep him from seeing green again tonight, so I held off.

The actual +6.5 is 152. So it looks like I overcarbed him. But this is good. It means that he would've been safe if I had gone to bed at +4. Next time, I'll see how he does on just 1 tsp of gravy with the +4 meal.
