Gotta keep you on your toes! I had a separate box with lentils in it, which are non-absorbent, for checking for ketones.
I have those little beads the vet gives you but both of my cats have never even considered using them. They rather pee on the floor! Snobs.

I've used those beads too - a teeny handful in a relatively big empty pan. I had to shut Frodo in our bathroom with that for about 5 hours last time in order to get him to use the beads. He just held it and refused to go!

Chuck, it is time to turn around and go the other direction. Think yellow and blue please!

:blackeye:DH was suppose to be monitoring this morning but he fell asleep... only got 2 readings but a "lower" pmps of 334

It might take a bit longer for that big 8.5 u depot to fill, Steph. You know he can come down nicely on Lantus. Do you find he feels better overall or is he about the same?

He feels much better on Lantus. I didn't think he had any side effects from ProZinc but now that he's on lantus he's much more alert and doesn't sleep as much. He is sleeping in different areas now. He was sleeping in his chair, under the hutch, or behind the couch pretty much all the time. He's playing more.
I chalked it up to high bg levels but even with higher numbers he's playing on lantus. This morning he was playing dead on the table while in the 500s. But I got him to play a little and he seemed to perk up a bit. DH tries to get him to play a bit with the laser pointer to help him work up his muscles after the drooler and I go to bed. She is OBSESSED with the laser pointer so we can't play with it if she's anywhere near us... which is ALWAYS for me. She's attached to my hip as much as I am to hers. 100% a Mama's girl. She's also the "fun police" with the kitties. She breaks them up when they're playing because Kitty-cow is very vocal when playing and she thinks they're fighting. They usually give her a swat for being a dumb drooler and then run off.

Trying to get a urine sample from the LB is a big pain in the pootie. Once I needed one for civvie, Forrest, I sequestered him into a bathroom with the box and noabsorb beads and that little poop help his urine for 12 hours!!!!

This AM cycle was his 2nd cycle on the increase and looks like he had some NDW with that 530 +1. Hope the PM cycle is going to slide him down.

I read yesterday's post and the no power thing always concerned me too especially when I had 4 extra pens down in the basement fridge. I invested in one of the Frio Insulin Coolers. You soak the bead pocket in cold water and the bead swell up and the cooling properties come from the evaporation of water keeping the insulin at least 78 degrees in 100 degree weather. Of course, since I bought one I have never had to use it. My concern was more for the summer. But, if the power goes out and you don't open the refrigerator, things will stay okay for about 2 day.

Here's a pic of the Frio.

My mom(GA) had something similar. I'll have to see if my step-dad still has it and if he's not using it (he's diabetic from losing 4/5 of his pancreas from nectrotizing pancreatitis and almost his life!)
Chuck's +5 is 346 I'm underwhelmed. :blackeye: I was hoping to see yellows at least for most of this cycle. *searches for those darn patience pants*
He's been outside most of the afternoon. Our yard is fenced in and kitty-escape proof. He doesn't go far. If a car goes by he either hides in the flowers or runs inside. He's quite a scaredy cat for having such a name! Sometimes I joke that we should really rename him Satin since he's so soft and silky.
I'm stalking him for a fresh untainted sample today. This morning was burried but still had some wetness on the plastic wrap so I tested that out of desperation.
I don't think he has ketones. He's acting normal. But I don't want to risk assuming. He's got some fat now so there's some to burn off. I always wondered if he was just skin and bones so couldn't get ketones... I don't think that's how it works but it really does blow my mind that in all that time he was diabetic and losing all his weight and fat he wasn't a dka case. I thank the stars we have not had to deal with it. *anti-jinx*

That's funny.

You know, I wonder if because he goes out and Bubba goes outside if the "stressors" outside, squirrels, birds, mice, sounds of cars, etc makes them stay a bit higher? Does Satin, I mean Chuck, hunt?

I NEVER thought of that! I did think maybe he was a bit higher because we had Chico (my mom's dog) here from Thursday to Monday. Chico likes to hump him all the time. Recently he's been swatting him to get him to leave him alone though. Of course I try to get him to leave Chuck alone. Maybe I'll leave him inside the rest of the night to see if he goes down a little quicker. He use to hunt in the house we lived in years ago but never ate his victims... He would take them to the bathtub where they couldn't escape his tortuous game. I'm pretty sure they died of pure terror. He doesn't hunt outside. He likes to eat grass though. At night he'll chase and eat bugs. (gross)
