I've been having a lot of trouble with the variation in strip readings at each test time. I'm literally having to go through 3-4 strips each test to get a number I think might be right.

For example (and this is happening multiple times a day)...at +3 today I got 223, 76, 74, 201. His morning numbers were similar (484 and 495) so any of these numbers +3 would have been a huge drop and I settled on the 201? At least this one had two and two in the same family of numbers. One test yesterday had 430, 130, 306...

So far the diagnostics I've done:

-Changed the meter battery
-Did a control solution test (which looked completely fine)
-Verified that the code on the strips matched the code on the meter

At this rate, I'm blowing through strips and don't know if I'm recording accurate numbers. Has anyone else had this kind of trouble with the Alpha Trak meter?

*I'm going to do a duplicate post in the Health room also*

Wow. I've only used an AlphaTrak for short periods of time in order to run comparisons between meters, but I never experienced anything so wild as what you're seeing.

223 & 201 -- yes, sounds plausible.
76 & 74 -- no problem.
223, 76, 74, 201 --- something's sure doesn't seem right.
430, 130, 306 -- 430 & 306 could happen, but the 130 thrown in there? again. something seems off.

I'm interested in hearing input from other AT users... this reply will bump you up the list.

Hi! We've been using AT2 a little over a year.
There were times I saw weird numbers and I retested. Second (and third) number came out similar enough always.
At least my AT2 meter is accurate.

I've only been using the AlphaTrak for about a month. I don't double test, but Yum's numbers always follow reasonable trends. You can contact AT---I almost did that when the strips weren't triggering. Could 2 vials with different codes have been combined?

I just found a brand new (yet old model) of the first Alpha Trak meter and am going to try using that for a bit to see if I don't start to get some consistent test results. Although, I hate wasting all of these strips! I wish they sold them in boxes of 1,000, lol.

Also, a little off the topic, @Wendy&Neko, assuming the numbers I've recorded are correct, things are seeming to creep up these last two days. What do you make of it?

IF your numbers are somewhat accurate, as I said yesterday that 130 was a pretty fast lowering of numbers and could have caused that bounced to the 400s.
I think a lot of us if not most of us have more than one meter and use one as a back up. I hope you get more consistent numbers on the new old model meter.

You did call that! I thought he was over bouncing from blues since he was staying so steady. But..nope, lol.

I have a lot of the Arkray Glucocard 01 meter kits (I order from ADW and when you order 200 strips they send you a free meter kit, which includes 10 more strips). If you send me your mailing address in a private message ("start a conversation"; click on InBox at the top, right-hand side of this page) , I'll send you one. The Arkray Glucocard 01 is the same meter as the Walmart Relion Confirm and uses the same strips as the Confirm. It is a very good meter.

Sorry you're having such a time with the AT.
