    Good morning

    Previous tread http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/4-20-willow-pmps-496bg.156530/#post-1657400

Between 5-5:30 am she was vomiting, not a lot the same white pasty stuff. She was hungry and not feeling well
Her PMPS +11 was 502bg one hour later she was 459bg
    No keytones
I could tell she was not feeling well by how she woke me up.
Today we will reduce some of her food. We must get her numbers down. She has been eating 4 cans of wet food.
A few weeks ago when I got her into the blue I had cut her to 2.5 cans a day, she then bounced and everything went out the window.
Since I will be in and out all day I'll be able to check on her
Hope she starts the slide into good numbers

your subject line says ambg.... which indicates you didn't shoot....
looking at your ss, you did shoot....

amps ( am pre-shot) is what you want to say....

while her numbers are high, she will be hungrier.... because her body isn't getting the nutrition from the food.....
i know you are trying to balance it.....
but that starving is real..... that's why fd cats can lose weight even while eating a lot when they are untreated.
I'd try to just feed her smaller portions more frequently so you get less scarf and barf.....

she'll get down .... you just have to keep the one step forward attitude......

That is a large drop that might lead to a bounce but nice to see blue. I wouldn't cut her food much as that can lead to other issues like fatty liver.

What exactly are you feeding. Not just the brand of food but the variety?

I also agree with Elise -- if you are going to change Willow's feeding amount, I'd reduce it gradually.

I agree about the smaller portions, spaced out, so she doesn't eat too much at once. Have you tried giving her some Pepcid for the barf? Since it doesn't sound like she's throwing up food, it could be acid tummy. If you haven't already gotten some, you want the 10 mg Famotadine (generic is okay), and you give her 1/4 tablet, half an hour before food.

I know the bouncing is worrisome and frustrating, but the fact that she got into blue numbers is a good thing - it means you're getting closer to the right dose! Remember, her body is so accustomed to those awful high numbers that a drop like that, or any time spent in much lower numbers will cause her liver to panic and make her bounce. Unfortunately, you just have to ride it out.

I hope Willow slows the drop and surfs for you. If you haven't already, I'd feed a teaspoon of LC to keep her surfing.

Good question. The signature says ff. Is it the Classics ? Any other food? I also agree at least for Max spacing out the food with each test up until +6-7 really helped.

I agree with what everyone else is saying about the food - you don't want to cut her back too much, especially since she was borderline hepatic lipidosis once. And, of course, because she's an unregulated diabetic - her body needs the food.

To elaborate on Tricia's suggestion about the Pepcid (the generic name for Pepcid is famotadine): this does work very well for tummy acid. She mentioned giving it 1/2 hour before food, and that is fine, but you can only give it once every 12 hours. Some people find that giving it right before bed, rather than right before food, is beneficial. If you give it to her at bedtime, it will take care of that empty tummy tummy acid build up she gets from not having food for a longer time than she's used to.

Letting us know the details of her food will also help us help you figure out how to get a handle on her numbers.

I have been trying to reduce her slowly, she then has a huge drop in her numbers and I get worried that she will drop too low and no one home to feed her to get her numbers back up.
I'm going to have to get her food under control she is getting really fat!

I give the Famotodine twice - before breakfast and before his late dinner (twelve hours apart, as Amy said).

This is the most important clue - if she is gaining weight when she doesn't need to, then you want to reduce the portions gradually so that she loses weight gradually.

I saw on the spreadsheet that you're switching to the Relion tomorrow. Because they measure differently than an AT, it'll probably be a lot more encouraging and her numbers are likely to read lower. Great to see that blue in there this morning! You want to always ask "how low can this dose make my cat's blood sugar go?" when you're making decisions on the dose. Right now we can see that 3.5u can get her to 180 - so that's good information to have.

    Morning.
The only time she vomits is when her stomach is empty all night.
I'll pick some of that stuff up today

I don't know what are your relationships with your vet, or if you have a competent vet in diabetes, but in my point of view, it would be good now to have the advise of a professional.
When I see such a numbers of black figures, such a numbers of comments with the word "vomiting" in your SS, I start to be really worried.
If your vet isn't a "specialist" in feline diabetes, maybe it's time to find a good one.
    That's just my opinion.
