Yes he does. Stayed up to check his plus 2. He has dropped about 100 points so today we could see better numbers. Going to get 4 hours sleep and check him at +6. Am leaving food out if he needs it.
I woke up to a blue. Of course I set my alarm wrong by 1 hour so @ +7 fed him a can of Tiki cat cause i want him back up by shot time. I also don't want to have to reduce back down again this soon and 112 is to close to 90 for my likings.
So typical of Lantus - the AM and PM pre-shots are the highest of the day...and then if the dose is effective it'll take them down to their lowest point, the nadir, sometime within that 12 hour cycle. Now, get ready for the night-time, when so many nocturnal kitties love to dip even lower. They don't care if us hoomans ever get a minute of sleep when it's dark...their rhythms seem to adapt best at night time being the right time for the most effectiveness of the insulin - that's the best time to determine whether or not you've hit a good dose...at least for now. As you already know, all bets are off for this dose being the perfect dose for very long...some kitties take hold and just march down that dosing ladder...for others...it takes them a bit longer...and some are so downright stubborn it takes a long long time to get the idea that they can go into those nice green numbers and stay there!
