Last condo (3/30)

After the big tease of 50 on 3/29 Purrdy went off the boil a little. He then had a skip on PM 4/2 so that mum could attend my cousins wedding - really must get them a timed feeder! This caused him to head back into yellow territory for yesterdays PSs - bookends of 211 but he had dipped his toes back into the lagoon (95) by last night.

His neuropathy seems completely cured now. Mum's even busted him on top of the kitchen bench (which is his testing spot) a couple of times when she didn't put him there - just checking for leftover treats!

Vyktor is holding his own and has gained 100g :). With some encouragement via home deliveries and the oogie hand feeds he is eating sufficiently (way too much fish but no wonder he wants that since it's anti-inflammatory - clever boy!) and his poops have been pretty much on schedule. The joint guard is working wonders for him and he is more mobile and even taking little wanders outside without me having to carry him screaming to the end of the yard. His mouth is still very red and ulcerated but he's also started a course of B12 shots so I'm hoping that will help. He'll have shots once a week for 6 weeks and then every second week for the following 6 weeks. Luckily I don't have to take him in and can just pick up the syringes. He'll also be starting on a probiotic (protexin) which had some correlation to his folate levels being high. We have decided to hold off on the US until we see how his mouth goes.

His vet is going to contact the Australian cat faucitis vet experts that Ruth discovered and I am going to look further into the stem cell treatment that Ann provided info on. His vet has never heard of stem cells being used on cats in Aus or to treat this condition but he does know a couple of places that are treating dog's joints with stem cells so it should be doable.

Well that's quite the book but I guess it has been a few days! Hope everyone is enjoying Easter break.

Hi Serryn. I had been wondering how you all are doing and it sounds like everyone is doing well with Purrdy and his neuropathy cured and Vyktor doing well with weight gain too. I have considered joint guard for my Lucy and am thinking of trying it. We have had some improvement with the osteosupport and the zobaline but I am thinking of trying the joint guard because of the success you have had with it. One question I have is when you bought the joint guard did it have a seal under the lid or on the lid like soft drink bottles have if you know what I mean. A while ago I ordered some and it came with powder on the outside of the container as if it had been opened or spilled and the container was not full and it had no seal so our vet said not to use it and to return it to the seller so I did. She said when she has bought it it has had a seal on it. Healing prayers for Vyktor for his mouth and best wishes to Purrdy for more great glucose levels too.

It's great to hear Purrdy is doing so well. I'm glad Vyktor is eating and moving better. I've been wondering how he is doing. I hope the B-12 and probiotic help.

Nice recovery for Purrdy from the skip-and super glad to hear his neuropathy is gone!

So glad to get a Vyktor update and a good one at that! Weight gain and walking comfortably is a good sign! I have fingers and paws crossed that the other IM can make some suggestions or at least give some options for Vyktor! Sending healing prayers and vines for you and hope Meg is doing well! :bighug:

I saw you were giving a new probiotic that I've never heard of- sounds like it is working well! I'm kinda glad the US has been delayed, Vyktor doesn't need the stress.

Yo Vyktor, my U/S was pushed back, too. We can deal with our "issues" without it! Glad to hear all your supplements and meds are working and that you're feeling good and gaining weight. See you and Purrdy tomorrow at the full Pink moon party. Check the party condo tomorrow. Bring some of that magic elixer that you brew. OK?

Great news on the mobility of both kitties. I love that Purrdy was caught on the kitchen bench looking for treat crumbs.

Interesting on the stem cell work for faucitis. The owner of the clinic that Neko goes to for acupuncture was the first vet in Canada to do stem cell transplants - for dog joints at first. If I remember, I'll try to ask on Tuesday when have our next visit what they are doing now.

I'm so glad to see an update on Purrdy and Vyktor and to read good things about both. I just wish you could find something to help Vyktor's poor mouth. I wince every time you mention it, poor boy.

What kind of joint guard are you giving Vyktor? Is it something only available in Australia? I've been thinking of giving Cinco something more than just the Zobaline, as his back legs seem to be somewhat stiff. He walks fine, so I'm not so sure it's the neuropathy. Dr. Nelson thought it might be the beginnings of arthritis, but didn't think it was bad enough for meds, so I am looking into supplements.

Well done Purrdy! You gots to make sure you gets all those treats! -- Tess

I'm glad to hear that Vyktor is doing better too. Emma needs to go in for a follow up, but she sseems to be doing well considering all the critters she tries to stash in the garage for midnight snacks.
