good morning. misty is 18 next month and just been diagnosed. I successfully got her brother into remission using Lantus 8 years ago and he passed 2 years ago. That I remember was hard work. Misty is feisty, while he was a teddy bear. I’m looking for a friendly, educated vet in Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Au. Does anyone have any ideas? Have stopped steroids and changed to low carb wet food. I used whiskers jellymeat previously, although couldn’t see this on Bronnies latest list. Trying to get blood results from emergency vet, and then can post. I feel I need to get her stated on insulin ASAP.

Hi again,
It looks as if you have looked at the list of foods I wrote already.
I didn’t put the Whiskers Jellymeat on the list as I couldn’t find out info about it at the time but I think it is probably ok. Have a look at the ingredients on the back and see if it has anything else but meat and added vitamins and minerals.

I don’t know of a vet on the Sunshine Coast but there are some really good vets in Brisbane at the cat clinic. Specifically Rhett Marshall and Marcus Gunew. They have three clinics in Brisbane and I’m not sure where they work or if they go to each of the clinics.
Rhett Marshall has written papers on FD that have been published around the world and done a lot of research. I’ll give you the link.

Lantus is still the most used insulin here although some vets are using Levemir which is very similar to Lantus except it has a later onset and nadir. I’ve used both and I liked levemir better but I still think Lantus is very good.

Are you going to home test the blood glucose?
We strongly recommend you do.
