Strange cycles for Max. Redundancy? This is Max, Elise. Although he sure has changed his pattern, if indeed he had a pattern.

I don't know what is going on with the meters. I have been getting odd lows with my Relion followed by expected numbers. When happened last night I tested three times and the Arkray and the Relion matched. So I changed the battery. At first it didn't work at all. I must have not gotten it in right. The last time the Arkrau read 70. I got a 55 with the Relion. I'll test with both next time again. I guess one could be reading high and the other low.

So I don't know if he ever was that low or what I will do tonight.

Try testing yourself, as well. I found the Arkray to be rather fussy when it came to the amount of blood. Some meters will give a false reading if there's not enough blood.
 
It's the Relion that I think is off Sienne. The Arkray is being consistent. I also am using the new strips with the Arkray which make it so much easier to sip up the blood. I've yet to buy them for my Relion because I've stockpiled a lot that I scored on eBay.
 
Did you drop the Relion at all? When I dropped one of Trix's meters once, that was all she wrote....it never worked right again after that.

Yes I did drop it some time ago but it's been okay since that happened. I guess perhaps I should get a new one if I get any more wonky readings. I'm stuck getting another Relion though because I still have over 900 strips. It's just strange that the two meters are often within a point or few of each other except for when they aren't. Thanks Amy.
 
How frustrating that your meter isn't working, sorry you have to deal with that. I'd probably trust the Arkay until I got a replacement Relion, but I'm also quick to get rid of things in situations like that. Hope you can figure it out!
 
Hmm, now I am worried about my Relion meters, I am sure I've dropped them but they both seem to read close to the same numbers. Hopefully this will get sorted for you Elise! I hope Max and your Mom are feeling better, you too! :bighug::bighug:
 
So the meters are within six points of each other. Maybe it was the battery starting to go. Thanks for stopping by with support Patricia, Ruth, Amy, and Sienne.

I guess I'll stick with the same dose and probably test with both meters a few times.
 
Another thing you have to consider with the meters is the variance

Today's 70 could have been anywhere from 56 to 84.....and the 55 could be anywhere from 44 to 66....there are several overlapping numbers in those variances

I love the new "plus" strips too....the sipping action on them is great!

I know, Chris. But I was getting 36 and 38 with the Relion and 74 with the Arkray. The 30's call for a reduction. If I had gotten 50 I wouldn't have been concerned. Also last night I got a reading of 55 and something much higher. I can't remember now but I tested with the Relion and it seemed off so did Arkray and then the second Relion reading was the same as the Arkray.
 
That's odd. I have two ReliOns and I have definitely dropped both a number of times, because I'm clumsy! Whenever I have tested with both at once, I have always found them to be very close. So if you do get a new ReliOn you could compare it with the current one, and if it's off, maybe the current meter is wonky. But, I hope it was just the battery and the readings make sense now.

Since I got a 51 and a49 and the day cycle was questionable I'm going to count this as one under 50.
 
Hope you get the meter mystery solved. You got me thinking last night, and I switched meters for my pmps, just to compare, since I always use the same one. Doesn't hurt to do comparisons I suppose. Maybe Max is on a mission like Chi Chi! hes had some low numbers lately!
