June 10:
PMPS = 160
+5 = 202
+7 = 347

It doesn't look like 6.5 fat dose is working and I'd like to increase him back to 6.75 units.

It's difficult with Ming because when he's green, he's a "low" green and dives quite a bit. I always try to save him from the dives and give honey even when he's not lime green. It's worked out quite well but he'll still get lime and we'd have to reduce. I am always hesitant to reduce but I know he has a LARGE depot and that can be very dangerous.

I also suspect his daily pred isn't helping but we have to deal with it. I really want to wean him off of it. We're going to do another blood test most likely in July/August and then maybe we can revisit weaning him off. If his specFPL still comes out that he's got pancreatitis, then we know the pred is doing something.

But I'm wondering if there's been kitties in the past who don't hold reductions well, who dive and bounce, and if any special new rules/guidelines were made to keep these kitties on a working dose?

All that I can think of off-hand is some of what you're doing already... reductions taken at 3 x under 50 or one time under 40 as well as giving honey to prop up the numbers before they drop too low.

Alex did not dive and bounce for the most part, but I had to get enough insulin into her in order to flatten out the entire cycle. The only way I could do it was to prop her mid-cycle numbers up with food... often feeding right before nadir. It worked because while she wasn't a bouncer, her numbers would usually spike horribly after eating. My only point is sometimes it takes finding that special combination that works for 'your' cat.

Keep on keepin' on. You're on the right track!

Wish I had an answer. Olive can dive and bounce and be flat at times. I've tried feeding higher lc food at meal times and +1, 2, 3 and she will still dive. I don't know if there is an easy answer.

Thanks everyone! We’ll keep truckin’ along and give what’s needed!

And hmmm yes I could experiment more with Ming’s meals. I try mostly to feed a larger meal at onset time but perhaps if it looks like an active cycle, I could try feeding a little bit of a higher carb to flatten out the cycle. It’ll take some experimenting to find the right percentage of carb.

It sure looked like last night she was going to break the bounce...

I thought the same! I thought oh good, A blue PMPS! but then the numbers just kept rising and today’s AMPS is red. :rolleyes:

+4 = 304
My mom is going to do a +6 test but he's most likely bouncing. Not surprised though. :rolleyes:

I don't know if anyone's seen this meme, but this is how I feel about Ming and his bouncing :woot::woot::woot::
