Hi Everyone,

We didn't go down to camp today. The weather forecast for the next 4 or 5 days is not good and we didn't want to spend our time there sitting around in the rain and thunderstorms. The paddle for Monday was cancelled. So we are staying home and getting caught up on chores, etc.

Rusty had a pretty good day on his itty bitty dose. It's just about at the zero line, but I have to figure that there is the insulin that hides in the cone. So I don't really know what his dose is! His appetite was OK today and breathing not too bad.

TGIF! Everyone have a good weekend,

Whoa there Rusty....I know your mama is kind of guessing on your dose, but you don't really need to be such a drama king!!

Sorry the weather is keeping you home, but hopefully you'll get to go to camp soon and all the stuff you're catching up on at home now will already be done instead of dreading having to do it when you get home!

Oh my Rusty, green is my favorite color!

We can send you some summer weather, hot and dry. We usually have sunny blue skies with this sort of weather, but a lightening caused fire is being managed not too far away. It has been burning for over a week now, smoke is starting to impact us, so a lot of haze. When our temperature is in the mid 90s, and no a/c, we usually open our house up in the evenings and early morning and use fans to bring in the cool air. Then we close things up in the hot part of the day. But when there is a fire, the smoke comes in late evening and early morning so we can't keep the house open and cool it off. Can we trade some hot and sunny for some of your rain?

Fires are awful. I hope they get it under control soon. We do the same with regard to keeping the house cool, but generally it doesn't get that hot here. So far the rain hasn't materialized. In fact we had a really good paddle yesterday afternoon. But apparently the leader of the paddle made the right call for Monday's paddle. The rest of the week looks to be stormy, too. The Monday paddle has been rescheduled for Thursday.
Are you and Liz coming to NY again any time soon?

Fortunately, the fire is "under control" and we are not in any danger from fire. This one started from lightening and is being managed to remove debris from a previous fire. Still, it is kicking up heaps of smoke, there are over 400 people working it, and it will likely burn for another couple of weeks.

We wish we were coming back to NYC soon but for now, all of our trips are solo ones. We went up to Grand Canyon National Park a few weeks ago for a three day birding class, leaving Tillie with a wonderful live in pet sitter who has cared for her before. After one night, she wouldn't eat at all for her, which is a problem because so many of her meds are in her food. So, we drove home that morning. She ate and took her meds for us when we got home. Liz stayed home to tend the Queen and I went back for the last day of the class. So, we know that no more traveling together for now.
