Just an update on Jag! His levels are overall looking a little better this past week, more blues and yellows, with the last pink 7 days ago. Hoping that continues!

Specialist wanted insulin to go down to 2U. But from reading here, we're supposed to drop less, so I changed it to 2.5U instead. Hopefully I won't get yelled at! :)

The downside is I still am syringe feeding him. I switched temporarily to higher-calorie kitten food because he's lost weight too quickly since the end of April. He was 21lbs, now just shy of 18lbs. This is concerning to me. But since switching to higher calorie food, the weight has stabilized and seems to be going up slowly. And higher calories mean less food syringes to feed ;)

He goes to the internal medicine doctor at the specialty vet Thursday. I'm going to make up a list of questions, and hope they don't kick me out! :) ;)

Regular vet gave me Bupe to try for 5 days maximum to see if pain is why he won't eat independently. So far, no real reaction. (But only started it Saturday) The most I can get out of him is he will come to the food, sit and nibble at it for maybe 2 or 3 minutes, then leaves. I noticed he will lick up the juice content in full, leaving behind the actual food. So back to syringe feeding after awhile so he doesn't starve himself and lose more weight.

@Sienne and Gabby (GA) I read your reply from my older thread. They did NOT do the SDMA test from what I see on my paperwork. I'm going to add this to my list of questions for Thursday.

Also was reading about phosphorous and his most recent blood test I have shows this is elevated at 8.1. I know they will re-run blood Thursday, so we'll see if this came down. If it did not, I'm going to try a PB. One person commented that PB actually made their cat eat once that level came down.

He ended his SubQ fluids on Wednesday. Been monitoring blood ketones still, they went to 1.2 on Saturday, but now came back down to 0.4. He seems less-obsessed with his water dish, so this is promising too. Just need him to be an independent eater!

WOW!! Jag finally ate a WHOLE CAN of food. I am ecstatic over here seeing this!

He ate a 104kcal 3oz can of FF Trout. At this point, I am not concerned about carb content in the cans until he starts eating fully independent again.

So the theory is -- Bupe + Entyce = he is eating. So now the question will become, what's going on pain wise? Before Bupe was added to the mix, I was lucky to get 3 minutes of nibbling. Now I'm getting actual eating tonight. I still say something's up with his teeth.
