Hello all!!

Sorry we have been MIA. Billie is doing well!! She loves playing in her new apartment. Tonight, we had a couple friends over for dinner, and she sat in a chair at the table watching us eat for a good half hour. Very polite yet very much like a vulture at the same time. Based on tonight's hideous PMPS, I'm pretty sure she got some contraband. DBF and I are always careful not to drop anything but our guests may not have been careful enough. DBF made a dish with puff pastry which was super flaky, and I'm thinking some ended up on the floor. Contraband aside, I am thinking a dosecrease is coming. Billie has been hitting green but with nadirs in the 80s and 90s and higher PS numbers than I want to see. I still have to update her SS but I am just starting from where we are for now.

On the subject of food...I am trying something new that feels a little controversial but is going incredibly well so far. I had been having trouble getting Billie to eat her cat food. She would eat all the chicken and lunch meat turkey she could get her paws on. When her appy is really off, it's a struggle to get her to eat anything, so I don't think it was an appy issue this time. She just wasn't interested in any of her cat food options. Aversion, maybe. At this point, I really have tried every LC canned food the store carries...no exaggeration!

So...I got a sample of Young Again Mature Zero Carb (which I know is LC but not really zero). She loved it. So, I ordered a bag. She really, really loves it. She's still getting FF and Tiki Cat meals throughout the day and her raw goat's milk, and I am leaving the dry food out for her to free feed. Overall, she is eating way better. She had a couple iffy new food poos initially, but now her poos are significantly better/more regular. And it has only been maybe 10 days, but she gained a few ounces back, which is great, because she is still a bit underweight. I know there are a lot of good arguments against dry food even if it's YA, but it's working for Billie. She was a major dry food addict before FD, so maybe this is just her preference. She also prefers people food, so I'm also looking into some home cooked recipes to try (like this one http://www.dinnerpawsible.com/wordpress/sample-recipes/)

I hope everyone is doing well!! Sending vines all around.

Hi Deanna, What a great report on Billie! I'm so glad she's doing well and likes her new apartment and is eating and gaining back some weight.
Keep up the good work, Billie. You can come down from the red floor now!!

sounds like Billie has been taking lessons....

I'm doing similar... with a little more people food.... proteins... mainly because it's what she will eat....
i know something is in the cat food that is causing the inflammation.

I thought the zero carb ya was better than the mature.... but I could be wrong.
I don't sleep enough these days to remember anything clearly. I just vaguely remember that someone has bg's getting higher on the mature....
but not on the regular zero carb....
if I can find the example... I'll let you know.

like the pic....
wish I could catch something like that.... but mine frowns at me if I pull out the camera......

Other than that horrible PMPS tonight, Billie's numbers lately look good, so I say if it's what she'll eat happily, give it to her!!

People food is fine for kitties, but the one major nutrient it lacks is Taurine. When all I could get Sasha to eat was baby food for days on end, I picked up some Taurine at the health food store and added it in. I told the vet what I was doing, and she said it was a good idea. Just a thought.

I hope Billie continues to eat well and her numbers stay good. And Miss Billie, you are not a vacuum cleaner, so stop picking up crumbs from the floor!

Great Billie report, ugly PMPS aside! Sometimes with fuds, you gotta do what you gotta do to keep them eating. If her numbers go up, you just have to compensate with the juice...it's all a balancing act.

It's great to "see" you guys!!
