Hello everyone,
So I'm rather distraught. We finally decided to order 2 boxes of Levemir pens to save on shipping. It would be about a year's worth of insulin for Lou. Unfortunately, this is the time where nearly everything that can go wrong has gone wrong, and this was the one time I needed it to go right. :arghh::arghh::mad::banghead:

I placed the order from Marks Marine Pharmacy the weekend before last. They took far longer than normal to ship the pens out (2 full days after they received payment). Then I didn't receive any notification from USPS that they received the package (which I have before), and I had to manually track it. They hadn't updated the tracking history, so it looked like it was still in San Francisco. It was supposed to be delivered today, but it was attempted yesterday morning (Surprise!) earlier than they've ever tried before. Caleb was home, but he was still sleeping. Even the earliest I would have had him wake up would have been too late for this delivery. So the package is in limbo for the rest of yesterday until Caleb was able to pick it up today. We open it up and all 3 temp indicator circles are red, indicating a prolonged exposure to high temps. I'm livid.

I tried to call the pharmacy, but I was on hold forever (and their "leave a message" message is beyond annoying). I sent an email a bit ago. I have no idea if the insulin is still good or if it can be assured to be good months from now. Has anyone else had this issue before? I'm curious to know what they'll do about it, but I'm afraid I'll be eating that cost.

Keep trying to reach them. Remember there is a time zone difference. I didn't when I first contacted them. It was way to early for them to be open.

Also always order early spring (March, April for me) or late fall (October, November for me) to avoid the temps.

I opt out of signature so it won't sit in post office or over a weekend. If you work you can have it sent there too so someone will always be there to receive.

I was originally going to order earlier, but our cold snap lasted longer. Last week would have been fine, but they took nearly the whole week to send it out when usually I would have gotten it the same week. Of course the weekend and Monday were much hotter than it should be this time of year. Wouldn't have been a problem if they would have sent it on time. We've never had a problem having it signed for either. Sigh. Just a mess from start to finish.

My first order took a bit longer. Maybe next time if weather is questionable, paying extra for the cooler packing is an option.

Maybe try using one until you talk to them. See how it goes.

That's definitely what I'm most concerned about. I can't believe we're having a heat wave, but I'm so afraid of having spent $300 on insulin that's no longer good. I'm looking forward to seeing what they have to say tomorrow. I couldn't get a hold of anyone today before they closed.

Oh crap Amada! Maybe they have insurance for this kind of situation and they will replace it for you. I hope so, fingers crossed.
