I was surprised at his AMPS since he didn't have food after midnight. It may be a good thing we are getting the dental done today.

Just received a call from the vet, he is doing well under anesthesia and the dental x-ray shows that 1 tooth needs to be removed for sure but she is concerned with 4 others. So she will clean them and look at them again, she thinks they are starting to reabsorb. So very painful indeed. So, he may lose up to 5 teeth!

She will phone with an update when she is done and let me know. I think she is going with the theory if in doubt pull now as we may not be able to get another chance at a dental.

I thought he looked painful sometimes when eating, this may explain it.

My tummy is killing me today, but glad I came to work.

Thank you for the update Tracey, I sure hope Jones will be done soon and on the road to recovery. I'm sorry your tummy is bothering you, deep breath, he's going to come home, Momma, and you can take care of him. I just hate it when Idjit is at the vet and I can't see how he's doing, we both pace around the house like idiots.

So, it looks like he just had some very bad gingivitis that needed to be removed and the teeth were not reabsorbing but that 1 tooth was a cracked tooth! So painful for sure. I am glad I pushed through my scaredy cat feelings and did this.

So they will wake him up and watch his recovery and call to let me know when I can pick him up.

Awesome news!! I'm so glad everything worked out okay!

So glad his dental went well and he didn't need to have so many teeth removed! He will definitely be happier without that cracked tooth. Deep breaths, now, Tracey, he'll be back home with you soon! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Glad it worked out..........you'll find a much happier kitty once the drugs wear off, plus his BG numbers will drop. Jones will be groggy for a bit and not himself, but in time he'll come around. If he starts eating crunchy treats then that's a sign of minimal pain or discomfort and I'd cut back the pain meds..........you have to complete the ab's tho..........good luck and I'm sure you can't wait for him to come home

We are home and he was very agitated which was surprising as he slept on the car ride home. Still pretty doped I think. He didn't know what he wanted to do first...eat, pee, poop, cuddle. I ended up laying down on the bed with him and just let some time pass for him to settle.

He is not too interested in his regular FF right at the moment but I did give him a tsp of the new Hounds & Gatos Pork I wanted to try. He was willing to eat that so I gave him his insulin. His numbers are not great at the moment but there is some significant swelling around those gums and extractions.

The one extraction was weird the tech said as it had 3 roots vs 2 roots and it seemed cracked but could of been like a "abnormal" extra tooth that had grown into the other one. Either way when she was cleaning it, his heart rate went up while he was under....so painful and it had to go.

Here are some before and after pic for anyone that wants to see.

And yes Dickson, if Jones cooperates, DH and I are heading out for a motorcycle ride tomorrow. Doing a day trip to Calmar! You will have to show us some pics of the new drooler when he arrives.

@beggargirl - how did your kitty's dental go?

For the rest of the evening I have flowers to plant before I go on my ride tomorrow. So I will do that while Jones is resting.

Thanks again for all the hand holding and good wishes.

Gag! Tracey you know I have a dental phobia right? Two years ago when I had 12 pulled ALL AT ONCE I thought I was going to die. I've been told more than once to stop breathing so hard because I'm emptying the tank of nitrous. Easy for you to say Dr. Hairy Knuckles! I'd hate to see your back.
I hope Kitty is okay. You get this... Have a nice ride. ;)
(Oh honestly, showing those pics to someone as sensitive as me. It's just not right. :blackeye: :( )

Good so far! One extraction was done and the grogginess has worn off mostly.

She only got a half dose of insulin this morning but when I tested her at her PMPS she was lowish (180), so I only gave her a half dose again this eve.

She ate a tiny amount of soupy fancy feast that I made for her, but absolutely went for it when I pulled out the canned sardines mashed up as a treat.

I hope Jones continues to do great!
