Hi guys! Sorry I've been among the missing, but it's been a bad few weeks and I just haven't felt all that chatty.

My best friend in the world passed away and due to finances and circumstances beyond my control, I couldn't go to his funeral....I had just talked to him 2 days before and had told him I was coming up to visit the following week and he died before I could get there. I knew he was doing badly, but he'd fought through life threatening diseases before and I had hoped he could beat cancer too.

DM is doing well but still really wants to go home...I was hoping that she might decide the nursing home isn't all that bad considering they have activities to keep her busy, but all she wants to do is go home to her apartment and her kitty. I totally understand how she feels, but still have serious misgivings about having her live alone considering her advancing alzheimers/dementia.

Life has really just been pretty cruddy the last few weeks

China however has been the one steady shining light!! She's still doing wonderfully and spending the majority of her time paddling around the lagoon or occasionally sitting on the beach to work on her tan.

So sorry to hear of Trixie's passing .....so many of the kitties that were here when we first started are gone now, and in the mood I've been in, I can't help but worry about when it'll be China's time to leave too.

Sometimes life just hits you in the gut and it takes time to recover, so bear with me.....I do read a lot of posts and keep up with how kitties are doing!

Love to you all :bighug:

I'm so sorry for your loss. Cancer sucks (pardon my French, but we all know I have good cause to hate it, too). I hope your friend sends you a sign that he is free from pain and at peace. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

I'm glad your DM is doing well. I was concerned that your absence might mean she wasn't. Who is caring for her kitty?

I know, it seems like most of the "old timers" have crossed the Bridge now, but kitties like China and Rusty give us all hope and inspiration. No one could do more for their kitty than Amy did for Trixie. :(

China, you are a very good girl to give Mama something to smile about during this dark time for her. Keep being your wonderful Deputy LagoonMistress self and make us all proud! :D

I think he did tonight!! His obituary had mentioned that he'd like people to donate to his local shelter which he was a big supporter of, and when I went online to find out how I'd do that, I saw that they had a diabetic kitty...Eddie Van Whiskers

I contacted the shelter director for DCIN and asked if we had a relationship with this shelter and we didn't, but she contacted them and we posted Eddie on the Facebook page.....Found out today that he's being adopted!!! If I hadn't seen him when I went to their website and DCIN hadn't posted him, who knows how long he would have waited for a home? The news has made me happy.

Eddie Van Whiskers (I think he has "Old soul" eyes....like he's been around forever and seen it all). He was found last winter frozen to the ground and a foster took him in and saved his life. Now he has a forever home!

Who is caring for her kitty?

One of the ladies that lives in the apartment building goes over a couple times a day to feed and she spends some time visiting with Miss Kitty....she's very dependable and very kind

Oh, Chris, I think you are right. Your friend definitely had a hand in Eddie's salvation! What a wonderful story! I got tears in my eyes reading it. You're right about Eddie's eyes.

Poor Miss Kitty. I'm sure she misses your DM. I take it the neighbor that is feeding her isn't the one that caused you such concern?

Hugs Chris! So sorry about your friend. Hope that you can keep your mom in the nursing home a little bit longer. So happy that China is still doing so great! :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
