We've got a yellow!!! Congrats! :cat:

Because this is the lowest pre shot ever, get a +1 and a +2 and let the +2 guide you as to how much more you need to test.

Ok. I'm a little worried about how tonight might play out.
As long as you can monitor and can steer if he starts to drop to quickly, you'll be okay. Post if you need help. I am excited for you. This is what you've been wanting. He could bounce up from seeing a yellow number but, then maybe not. Stay vigilant. I will try and pop back in and check on you.

Thanks. I have been reading and reading over the past month. I wanted to know what to do if he drops low because I just knew he would pick a holiday weekend or sometime that no one is available to help to do so. Lol. I appreciate you checking back to help if needed though! At what point do I feed MC vs HC food?

If at the +1 he is dropping but still in high blues, I would just give a little of LC food. If he has drastically dropped, let's say about 50 points, give a tsp of MC food to slow him down. Usually the HC food is reserved for under 50 or if he is dropping really fast in the first few hours after insulin. It is all such a learning curve for you and your cat because EDID .

What I did was put the amount of food and whether it was MC or HC right in the cell with the number so I could easily look back and see what effect the carb food had on the number. It was very helpful.

Great info. Thanks. +1 in about 20 minutes.

That was a big bounce! Did you recheck it by any chance? Whenever they give much higher or lower number than you were expecting , always a good idea to recheck it. If that is accurate, the bounce has started and you can give a pokey break.

Nice while it lasted. Quit yer bouncing now Gizmo!

I saved HC for under 50. But you have to learn what works for Gizmo. Cats have different carb sensitivities. HC for Neko was 16%, some need over 20% or karo. Whenever you feed Mc or HC, take good notes on amount and time given, and you will soon know what works for Gizmo. I just put the notes in th remarks section of the SS, so as to not clutter up the numbers. And it never hurts to be a little heavy handed with the amount or percent of carbs to start, then work your way down as you gather data.
