? 7/17 Post DKA Millie PMPS 101. To shoot or not?

Millie is post DKA, released from her 2nd episode last Wednesday. I am not home, she is with a vet tech. Her PMPS BG is 101. This is too low. Asked that she give her food and retest in 15 minutes. Insulin due in 20 minutes. Suggestions please.

She's not likely to go up too much in 20 minutes. Why not give 1 u so she gets some insulin but at a dose that should be safe.

OK, she was given the 1unit. She's teat her at +2.

Could you remove the 911, now that action has been taken.

Next time, do not feed, and test 15-20 minutes later to see if she is going up on her own.

Difficult call here because Millie's mom is away from home and relying on a visiting vet tech to test Millie and give insulin. The usual monitoring isn't possible so I thought that being cautious was the way to go.

If you see this, Sylvia, I'm curious about the +2 BG test last night. The 1 u dose was given, right?

Hi Kris,

She was 227 at the +2. Food was left out overnight. This morning she was 634, which is typical for Millie. This morning she was given 2units since no one will be home to watch her today. I'll update the SS.
