Yesterday...

I gave 3.5 tsp HC 20% at +5 last night for a BG of 162 when I saw that he was still going down by ~55 mg/dL/hr after the meal at +4. Then I set 2 alarms for +7 and went to bed, but I missed both of them and didn't wake up until my bedside alarm went off at +8. He was at 126.

I have no way of knowing if he just went straight down from 162 to 126 or if he went even lower and was on his way back up by +8... but I don't think he had a green nadir last night. I say this because he had a very similar cycle the night of 7/17, and 2 tsp of MC at +5 kept him in blues an hour later. 2 more tsp at +6 got him to safe greens. HC has a much more pronounced effect on his BG.

Long story short, if he doesn't have a green nadir tonight then he's due for an increase tomorrow morning. Should I assume the HC is what kept him above 100 and stick with this dose a little longer, or go ahead with the increase and be extra vigilant?

If Chino's BG is still above 350 at +2, I'm going to take my meds and go to bed (test/feed at +4 then BTB), aiming to sleep for almost 10 hours. I hate neglecting them all day while I'm working, then going to bed without giving them much attention, but I need to do something about this deficit so I can stop sleeping through alarms while his BG is dropping.

Chino got down to 60 on this dose, so no harm on hanging onto it a bit longer as you catch up on your sleep deficit.
