yesterday -barely eating


S-i-g-h..................
staying home with Shadow today. Trying to get all the cuddles I can.
will call vet first thing in the morning.
got up several times last night.... she did mostly eat the whole tiny jar of baby food.... I also got her to eat the equivalent of 2 T of friskies supreme supper....

she's definitely showing signs of nausea as she's lip smacking.... gave her the ondansetron and it doesn't seem to be helping now.... going to add a pepcid dose to see if that helps any.

did not give her bude or pred last night.... just clay
so lack of enough food and those meds ..... she's back in normal numbers....
no shot this am since she's not eating yet....
going to pull out ham, fried chicken, bacon, go get crab... i may even get some dry food....

and preparing myself as she is quite miserable, was meatloafing last night , she even came over to me like "make it stop, mommy"

put down the friskies supreme supper and she started eating it, but then stopped, not even a teaspoon
but just now went and tore up 1/2 a thin slice of ham.... and she ate that!
she wants more but I told her let's make sure it stays down.... then I'll give you the other half....

Aww, sweet baby Shadow, you need to eat for mama. I hope this lack of appetite it short lived. I have been sprinkling ground up dry food on Sammy's food lately when he hasn't wanted to eat. I know it isn't the ideal situation, but if it gets him eating I am willing to have the higher BG for a day or two. And technically he is probably not getting more than maybe 1 or 2 pieces of kibble with the sprinkles. I just put the dry food in the magic bullet and round it up until it was nearly a powder. It is working well for us. It really is kitty crack!

How much Ondansetron are you giving her? Minka's oncologist said I could give as much as 4mg a day - all at once if needed. Sometimes she needs the whole 4 mg.

 

@Tricia & Cinco ... i've been giving her half a tab.... I can try more....
she ate the other half of the ham slice.
she went and laid on a stuffed toy i was going to list on ebay.... she never cuddles with a toy.

 

In addition to upping the dose or I guess an alternative is to dose ondansetron to every 8 hours. Oodles of vines and prayers your way for your gorgeous girl.

 

she just ate about 2 Tablespoons of cat food...
and then went to litter box... really liquid....
going to try napping with her for a while if she will and then go to store for her.

If there is fluid buildup in the abdomen sometimes a diuretic can decrease that fluid a little bit and aid in comfort, breathing, and appetite. It depends on the source of the fluid (heart failure? liver?), but it may be worth asking about.

Sounds like she may need some anti nausea meds.

back from store...
got her some newman's turkey dry food.... some friskies turkey and giblets pate.... and some catsip....
she drank the milk.
she's also ate half of the serving I gave her...so 1/8 of a can with dry crumbs sprinkled on top.

I tried to get her take a nap with me... even sprinkled cat nip on a towel on the bed.... she ate the catnip but went right back to the floor. At least she stayed in the room. I tried a couple more times but she kept going back to the floor.
I think the hard surface feels better to her.

I also just gave her a whole tablet of ondansetron to see if it helps her in the next hour.....

 

I hope the ondansetron helps. Do you have any cerenia? Sometimes they need both. I hope she continues to eat tonight.

Such a beauty she is. Im so sorry she isnt feeling well. Sending tons of vines for her..

 

I've decided that I'm sleeping on the hard floor with Shadow under the dining room table tonite.
She likes having me near her.
She will eat some with the dry food crumbled on it.... had another 2 -3 tablespoons....since last report.....
but my gut tells me I might buy myself another couple of days.....

hoping the vet has something to try tomorrow....or can at least feel her up and confirm lump/lumps, something .....
