Tux did not wake me in the wee hours, it was nice to sleep but I wanted to test Olive to see how low she went. I will be making more pickles today.

Looks like our day will be a quiet one.

Hope everyone has an uneventful day.

I slept right til +9 and had a mini panic attack because normally Boomer comes to bed for a snuggle right after his +8.5 snack. Well, he had come btb he was just laying at the end.

Come on Olive, work the juice!

Did the tree guys come? Any of them? You are not alone on this problem. We had similar issues, especially with one large pine tree that had died and I was trying to get it taken down. No one wanted to come for a single tree, well that is one that fell and hit the neighbors house. At least I had records for insurance that I was actively trying to take care of it and insurance covered the damage to the neighbors house.

One came yesterday, but hurt his back (previously broke it) and suppose to come back Monday with his associate. He said since we want the wood for firewood and chips the old oak he estimated between 80-100 yrs old would be $3000 and the smaller at $1500. And they would throw in the one birch tree as it's tiny that we did not ask about cuz it's one we can do. Hubby complaining that I want stump grounded which cost more. I don't want a stump left in front yard. Another company suppose to come today and yet another Monday evening.

Pickles are one of my favorite foods! Although I've never made any of my own. I hope Olive has a good day today!

Not hard to do. I make the brine ahead of time, I cook the jars when I slice up the pickles so they are hot enough. Once the brine boils everything is ready to fill. Takes 30 minutes. Longer if I have to make new batch of brine. Few years back I had a whole bunch of brine and was out of pickles. Didn't want to throw it out so I canned the brine and refridged it for following year. Worked great. So any left over gets saved until next batch of pickles. Time saver.
