7/4 Cosmo back from the vet

Cosmo lost his appetite last night due to constipation and megacolon. He wouldn't eat today to give him his AM Shot. We took him to the vet in the morning and needed to be sedated, manually extracted, fluids and several enemas. :(

We fed him some high value carbs when he got home and gave PM shot and dose of Cisapride. He is sleeping soundly... He probably hasn't slept in days being so backed up. Glad to have him home!

Hoping for a more normal day tomorrow!

He wasn't diagnosed properly with megacolon until about a week or so ago. Now, he needs to eat gastro food (with psyllium, fish oils) , Cisapride, fluids regularly. We also have restoralax we can give when he needs it.

We had a poop this morning though... We celebrated!!!!!

Not sure if he will eat a lot today, he has quite a bit to move along in there, but a great start!

Ollie hasn't been diagnosed with mega colon. Year or so ago had a terrible time with constipation. Was using everything possible to get her to go. Something would work than it didn't.

Finally got the combo right and she goes pretty much everyday now. Pumpkin every night in her dinner. Cisipride 2x day. Psyllium husk every 3rd day. She gets fluids so that helps too. Lactulose if needed but haven't needed for about year now.
