Yesterday

He continues to eat well, in fact I can't believe how much he is eating which I don't know if that is good or bad in light of the IBD flare. He was CPC both times yesterday with extra food in his dish.

Poop is now a soft serve consistency but whole cow does it reek! Today is day 5 of the increased metronidazole and SEB. I am to call the vet and give an update. We will decide then if increasing the pred is a good idea or not.

His numbers have creeped up but with all that extra eating I shouldn't be surprised I guess. Will watch that and see if it is a permanent trend or just a high before a low.
 
What probiotic are you using? My go-to even if short term for soft or stinkies is S. Boulardi. Before I switched Leo to Primal dehydrated raw he could clear the house. While figuring things out for him the a 1/4 capsule once a day of the S. boulardi really helped much better then the SEB. Good to hear Jonesy is CPC!

I'd sit tight on the dose, he may have dipped a bit lower last night and I see a nice 86 just a day ago.
 
Great news that Jones is CPC! I hope you can figure out the right balance for him to have some normal poo!

The VisBiome - though he hasn't gotten any for a few days as the SEB twice a day and the need to spread that out from everything else and spreading the probiotic out from the metronidazole...is a little tough when not home all day.


Wonder if he would notice it mixed in his food???? He notices everything else but the RC Recovery stinks...

Just got a call back from the vet. She has suggested upping the metronidazole to 2 tabs twice a day - double of where he is at. Do that for two days and if poop not back to normal then up the pred from a 1/2 tab twice a day to a full tab. Also to change the food to get the flare under control - suggesting the ID or EN. Those are high carbs - 30%.


I am thinking of maybe stopping the mid day SEB and putting the S. Boulardi in his food and see if he will eat it. Then cutting back the RC recovery as it is higher in fat and put more FF. Vet is suggesting that may help the intestines as well...less fat more fiber.

Either way...I need to go by the clinic for more food.
 
Poop issues: don't they just drive you nuts?

Girlie's poo has what I call the "Miralax poo smell", but my other cat, Max's poo is so stinky I feel like I need a gas mask to go deal with it. I might try to find a S. Boulardi for him. What kind of S. Boulardi probiotic do you use? Is there a common one that's the S. Boulardi pick around here?

It is hard. He was doing so well then just started to slide. The dental took forever to get done -my fault - I wanted to wait for his regular vet to get back from maternity. It was done and found out about the broken tooth. Thought that would be done and over and now an IBD flare.

He still is not pooping in side the LB...but DH said there was a solid normal poop today in DS clothes again. (He really should put his clothes away). Hope he is right.

Last time I checked he lost 600g - he didn't have that to lose.
 
Ok, so put some S. Boulardi in his food - the RC Recovery...he went for it!


The good part is he is eating a LOT, I can't believe how many calories are going in....now if I could just stop it going straight out the back end!
 
Rusty gets a probiotic in his food (Renew Ultimate Flora). I open the capsule and sprinkle half of it into his food at breakfast and half at dinner. I tasted the powder and it is tasteless.

Vines for better poo!
