Question: I forgot to put down the auto-feeder this morning, so she hasn't had anything since about 8:00 this morning. I am due to shoot in 35 minutes. Should I make her wait, or can I shoot and feed 30 minutes early? She just tested at 82. @Bron and Sheba , @Larry and Kitties and anyone else that may be on?
 
I hope that works. I went ahead and shot 30 minutes early. Will get her back on track in the morning. I assume the 82 was probably reflecting lack of food?

The 82 is not that much lower than the 110. It could be from lack of food or she just surfed today.

Be aware that an early shot acts like a dose increase. You should get a +1 to see what she's doing.
 
The lower PS could be from not having food during the day, or she could be either surfing or dropping. My suggestion would be to retest in about an hour and see how the numbers are now that Shiloh has eaten. Good luck!
 
I would have shot early. You just might need to monitor a little later tonight or feed her a little higher carbs if she drops. Some cats don't notice an early shot at all and I bet she will be just fine b
 
Thanks ladies. I just felt horrible! I had a trial today and had my head somewhere else. The trial didn't turn out well for my client. When I got home about +11.25 and realized what I had done, and was so mad at myself.

Rhonda be gentle with yourself. You didn't do anything that badly affected Shiloh. Unfortunately there is a life outside of dealing with our sugar kitties and we all do the best we can. Sorry to hear that your trial did not go well. Again I am sure you did the best there as well.

Thanks Mary Ann. A couple of beers work for me. And my client will be doing 15 years in prison, but I know I did everything I could. It is just hard, and then coming home to that. ARGH!
 
Don't be so hard on yourself. You take great care of Shiloh. She's fine. We're all human and do things like that. Sorry your trial didn't go well.

Have a nice cold beer for me too!! I am too lazy to go out and buy some but it still sounds good! :D
 
I think she should be done with any food influence. If you can, you might get one more test before bed just to make sure she's surfing safely.
 
I will. +3 from shot is now. Will wait until +3.5, since that will be an hour from the last test. About 30 minutes. Although she has been getting uncooperative at testing time the last few days. I think she heard the message the vet let that said she should be off insulin???? LOL
 
She's not dropping a huge amount every hour so I don't think you need to panic - but I would definitely set another alarm in case she does decide to dip a bit further. She is getting a little close to 50 to skip doing another test.
 
I think so, yes - that looks like she's going to surf as the numbers aren't really changing much if you take the 20% variance into account. :)
 
Looks like Shiloh had another good evening. I hope she starts off well and continues her beautiful numbers.
