I've been meaning to post for awhile -Murphy's 2 year FD diagnosis was a few weeks ago. Two years - oh my -- my gratitude to everyone on the board for all of the knowledge and support.

Murphy's appy has been bad the last two months -and the last 2 weeks he has the worst and most long lasting pancreatitis episode ever - every few days he still has a very rough day or so, then recovers. He probably needs another dental soon, despite his last one being in February. Diabetes is really wreaking havoc with his gum disease. It would be so much easier if he would let me brush his teeth.

Despite all this, I took him to the vet about a month ago (before this pancreatitis episode) and, besides his teeth, he had a stellar checkup and blood work. Go figure

I have come to the conclusion that his appetite and eating and inflammation and response to insulin is too erratic to try for consistent greens - He's a lifer on insulin. Once I came to terms with this, it made this whole FD thing easier for me to deal with.

Hang in there, everyone :bighug::bighug:

You do a great job with Murphy. Sorry the poor boy has eating and teeth issues. Knowing your cat is most important and also keeping your own sanity. Glad his BW and check up was otherwise a good report. He appears to be staying under the renal threshold the majority of the time which is great. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Carol! It is so nice to see you and have a Murphy update! :cat:

I am so sorry Murphy is struggling with pancreatitis. You do an amazing job taking care of that sweet boy.

I hope he will come down to some blue for you today and will eat all his fuds! :bighug::bighug:

It's important to find that balance with everything. You are a great mombean to be concerned with how he is feeling and doing what is best for him. I hope the pancreatitis clears up soon. Sending prayers.

Thanks Carla and Amanda and Kris and Karen - he's having an okay day. We are on our way to Indiana - this weekend is Chicago's Air and Water show - Air force fighters buzz around the lakefront (a block away) Saturday and Sunday and the noise is deafening -

Sending hugs to you my friend. What a process we go through with this disease; it's such an emotional roller coaster.

Carol, have you considered Pancreas Booster to see if it helps with the pancreatitis?

ETA: I just remembered, Murphy won't eat if anything added. :banghead:

He was on pancreas booster for several months - I took him off of it about a week ago, afraid it might be contributing --- he ate two bites tonight then quit - had diarrhea, tail straight down, now clearly in pain from another pancreatitis flare up - I gave him insulin so now I'm going to be sweating his numbers all night - loaded him up on ondansteron, appy stim, bupe and SQ fluids. I'm going to get some florastor tomorrow but I don't think it works with pancreatitis My poor little guy - just when I think he's turned the corner, he gets a flare up

Oh, Carol, I am so sorry for both Murphy and you. :bighug::bighug::bighug: Perhaps the Florastor can help with the diarrhea and that in itself maybe will make him more comfy.
