Last Time at Tricia's House of Chaos
Thank you to all who visited my last condo. Sorry I keep missing days. I just get so overwhelmed with all I have to get done, and I generally don't have a chance to sit at the computer for more than a few minutes until very late at night. I will confess that an addiction to Tiny Kittens has also cut into my Board time.
I am just so fascinated by little Cassidy and the way he's fighting to survive, and my heart has been catnapped by Topper.
We are all still plugging along. Not much new. The vet did call yesterday to say that Cinco's T4 was 4.4, which she was very pleased about.
So he's on the correct dose of Felimazole. I have to say that I really have seen no change in him since he's been on the meds. Of course, he never showed any symptoms of Hyper-T, unless you count the excessive water intake and output, which I had always attributed to his FD and early kidney disease. That hasn't really changed, either. I am really, really, REALLY hoping we will get some results from the biopsies tomorrow. I have no fingernails left and my hairdresser is really going to have to use the extra strength stuff to cover all this gray hair
Cinco had one of those weird cycles yesterday that had us suspecting a furshot, although there was no evidence other than rising numbers, but then he was down at PMPS. So I guess he was just being a cat.
I'm amazed that he didn't bounce from that drop last night. Talk about stepping off a cliff!
Minka had another crappy appy day yesterday, and today isn't any better. She ate a little tri tip a while ago, but hasn't had much else - a few licks of baby food and maybe a tablespoon of cat food. I plan to syringe some shortly, and will probably also syringe a little squash to see if I can loose up her poos.
Timeout: I just took a break to try again and she actually ate a couple small spoonfuls of baby food. I followed it up with a dose of hairball gel, which she is still trying to get off her face.
Sasha's appy is still so-so, but I do think she is getting enough. She likes Nutri-Cal, so I've been giving her a dose of that, too. The oncologist that saw her Thursday e-mailed me late Friday to say Dr. S hadn't been in, so he couldn't show her the photo of Sasha's sore. He did speak to the Dentistry department, and they want to see her. He asked if I could bring her in on Monday or Tuesday. I responded that of course I could, but the Tuesday fits my schedule better. Saturday morning he copied me on an e-mail to the Oncology coordinator, instructing him to fit Sasha in sometime Tuesday afternoon and let me know. I really appreciate that kind of accommodation.
Harvey is still hoovering.
He's such a little knothead, though. He'll decide he doesn't like what I've dished up for him, then he'll follow me when I take Minka her food and try to eat it! Even when it's the same thing!
Eventually he goes back to his own plate and cleans it off, then parks in the kitchen, awaiting a refill. Silly boy.
Totally off topic (like most of my condos aren't, already): sometime last year I got a PM here on FDMB from a cousin that lives in Slovenia. He found me by doing a google search on his grandmother's name, which was Minka! We corresponded back and forth and he was basically translating for his great aunt, who speaks very little English, but who was very excited to find a relative here in the States. Well, my brother had to go to Paris for two weeks on business, and he managed to get a flight to Slovenia Friday after work. He met those relatives and a bunch more, and saw the place where our grandfather was born, etc.! I have been researching my family history for many years, but had little info on our father's family, as he was first generation American. This amazing connection, thanks to the Board, has given us a ton of info, and enabled my brother to meet family member we never would have known about! Just wanted to share what I think is a very exciting occurrence, and another reason I'm so grateful we were directed to FDMB 4 years ago.
Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans, especially Carla & her civvie Baby, Wendy & civvie Theo, and Marje & Gracie.
Prayers continue for Amy's DF, Lyresa's DF and DH, Marje's DM, Chris' DM, Molly's DM, and Elise's DM.
