I just got home. I didn't get a phone call from UCD today, so after my MRI in Sacramento, I swung by to pick up the stroller and check in on Harvey. Steven apologized and said he'd been swamped, but the news was good - they moved Harvey to the Intermediate Care Ward today. His electrolytes still aren't where they want them, but they aren't doing wild swings up and down like they were, so he's considered stable. Steven was able to bring him into an exam room so I could see him, and he was somewhat more alert. Steven brought in a can of Fancy Feast and opened it, to see if Harvey would eat. He said he had eaten a little bit earlier in the day, but was still on the dextrose (not glucose, as I said earlier) drip to get him enough calories. I set Harvey down few inches from the food and he went right over to it and started eating!
By the time he was done he had eaten half the can. I thought Steven was going to split his face smiling. He said he was very happy (I could tell!) to see that. So was I!
I got to spend another ten minutes or so petting and loving on Harvey, and then Dr. Lim came in. She said he definitely has pancreatitis. They expect him to be there through the weekend, and they will see how he is on Monday before deciding when he can come home. They want his electrolytes back to normal and want him eating reliably first. They are still giving him R, but hope to get him back on Lantus in the next day or so. She complemented me on my care of him, said he really looks amazing, considering all he has going on. I appreciated that, as I'm feeling guilty for not being able to prevent this episode. She said it isn't necessarily the p-titis that caused it - it could be the lymphoma, or the combo of the two. She said once he's eating, we can try putting the binder in his food, just a tiny amount. She doesn't want to switch him to a low Phosphorus food right now, because she doesn't want to upset the apple cart, especially with his diabetes. She said we need to take it slow, so if his Phosphorus stays elevated, we'll go with the binder. I love that she didn't demand he switch to a prescription food.
I told Dr. Lim how much I like Steven, and she was very pleased with my comments. She said he is doing very well, one of the best students she's worked with.
I can go back to see Harvey tomorrow and/or Sunday evening, if I want to. They will call with updates. He's not completely out of the woods, but it's looking much better. Those L&L Land vines are pretty darned powerful! Thank you all!

Mark and I are going out to dinner with his best friend and I'm going to have a couple of glasses of wine and sleep in tomorrow!
Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans.
