Hi L&LL,

We are having another beautiful day (a whole week now; must be some kind of record!). Rusty enjoyed some outdoor time this morning and will go out again later this afternoon. His appetite is pretty good (OK, but not as good as yesterday) and his breathing sounds pretty good (for him!) too. The AM shot clearly had some insulin hiding in the Monoject :arghh:

Tomorrow we will be out all day paddling on our favorite Adirondack lake: Lake Lila. It's a 2-hour trek to get there and the portage to the lake is a tough one, but it's well worth it. Rusty will hold the fort (and hopefully eat his fuds). In the meantime, here are some pics of the ancient pines (yesterday's hike/bushwhack). I had to shoot into the sun, but you can get an idea of their grandeur.

bbl, Hoping all is well in L&LL

Rusty, get away from the sharks! Do we have to send the deputies in?

I love big trees. Was there logging there at one time? Here's it's mostly fir and cedar, with the odd hemlock that are big, and you have to go some to find ones that weren't logged.

Have fun on the paddle/portage. It's great you are getting good weather. Our forecast is rain for the row tomorrow. Be the first time in months we've been on the water in rain.

I iz on da way Rusty!! (a deputies work is never done)

Beautiful old trees Ella....the word "majestic" comes to mind. When I was a kid, my parents took us on vacation to see the Sequoia trees in California.....I wish I'd appreciated them then!!

I think Rusty should lead the portage. He can show off, easily making the trek while the beans struggle over rocks and logs and trip over roots.
Having grown up in the bush on Vancouver Island, I miss hanging out with old growth trees. Thanks for the pics.

Ella, love your photos amidst ancient pines. Thank you for sharing them.
Apologies for not being around lately. Hope your portage trek today was glorious.

Hi, Rusty, keep steady with your numbers and fuds. Are you feeling on the mend from that bout of pneumonia? I had a week or so of yuck and trips to the vet, the best part being car rides when I can sprawl out in the back seat. I remember that you like car rides, too.
Yours in vines,
Azalea
