Good morning Friends,

With Labor Day greetings for all and wishes for relaxing weekend with and for everyone, near and far, safe and sound.

Sootie's Tribe doing well though Azalea had a recent flare of gingivostomatitis. So she is on another round of Zithromax. Doesn't seem to prevent her from cuddle and watch nighttime sports in the lap of her bff, Steve, drool and all (Azalea's, that is ;):cat::facepalm:)

Also, she's been pulling at her fur along lower spine. Reg vet thinks arthritis, but I'm not so sure that if it is, that it's the only cause. It seems to go along with the mouth infection flares. Any ideas/suggestions?

I was in an auto accident earlier this week, rear ended while stopped at crosswalk for an ice cream cone toting tourist meandering across the street. At least he was using the crosswalk. Minor visible damage to car, other driver was given warning by police. No airbag "deployments," but I was quite sore from the jolt for a few days.

Here's update on the rug hooking project, though it's not complete and is sort of lumpy bc of it being just off the loop and with much more wool on it than a month ago. Right now it's about 19" square (the funny string above the left eye marks mid point) but I might go to 20" if decide to add a border color. It's one of those "will know when I get there" processes. But I do hope to finish it soon, tweaks and borders (or no borders) all. Some days my hands work better than on other days , so it's also been a good patience pants endeavor.

We all send our love, hugs, thanks and vines of healing for one and all,
:bighug:

I'm so sorry you were in an auto accident. I hope you're feeling better now. Arnica works wonders for sore muscles if that is part of it.

Poor Azalea. I hope the meds help her feel better soon. It sounds like some kind of allergy to me. I'm glad the Tribe is doing well overall. I love the picture of the rug hooking project. It's coming along nicely.

I wonder if adding krill oil would help? Omega 3,6 & 9 have helped Fritz . I buy online the Captains krill oil straight from the boat. Wonder if it could be stress or allergies?
Hope your feeling better from your accident:bighug:

Glad you are ok. :bighug:

Love the rug. It looks great. Lots of work!

I wonder if the fur pulling is a soothing act from the mouth or arthritis pain. IDK.

Sorry to hear about your accident! Thank heavens you weren't injured!

Poor Azalea, mouth pain is one of the worst things in the world, in my opinion; I really feel for her. I hope she feels better soon. I don't know why arthritis would make her pull at her fur, I think there's probably another cause, too. Glad you clarified who the drooler was, lol.

The rug looks great! Glad the rest of Sootie's Tribe is doing well. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Sina!!!! I missed this yesterday. I am so sorry to hear about your fender bender and soreness. I hope you are getting on the mend. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Also, so sorry about poor Azalea and her stomatitis flare. Just this morning in a PM to me one of our members talked about CoQ10 powder to give to cats with periodontal disease and heart problems. 1 pill /10 lbs. It might be worth researching to see if it helps poor Azalea.

The hook rug is adorable!

Thanks Carla, could be allergy or nerve endings get overly sensitive during flares..maybe something in auto immune response? When her mouth is ok, she doesn't do it. She's due for new Lab work and retest fiv next week. Crossing paws.

How are you all doing?

Sorry about the infection, but it doesn't sound like it's affecting her much

ACK. Hope your recovery is swift, and that you insurance rates remain stable.

Hi Deb. Thanks for well wishes and the info about Captain's Krill oil and good tibhear that it helped your Fritz. Those omegas indeed very important.

Azalea and the others get Nordic naturals sardine and anchovy oil, but I had been thinking of switching to krill oil when that runs out (which it will soon). I'd been looking at moxxor krill oil and gulping at the cost. I will definitely look for Captains krill :bighug:

Hey, Lizzie,
Glad you like the rug! Homage to all cats and black cats near and far:bighug:

Your idea about displacement activity to divert from discomforts a possibility. Idk either:facepalm:

How are you and how's Gizmo doing?

Hey, Lucy and how are you these days?

Yes, the accident could have been worse ..a lot worse. Although a pita, I count my blessings that at least it happened in the next town where traffic is slow although crazy in summer.

I'm not convinced that it's arthritis or solely arthritis, either. I keep feeling that it's some kind of fiv related immune response that heightens sensitivity of nerve endings, whether she has arthritis or not.

Glad you like the rug and the clarification about who is the actual drooler in the family lately. ;)

Hope Hurricane Irma dissipates and doesn't make landfall . No more hurricanes, please!

Hey Bobbie,
Great to hear from you and hope all is well and that stately king of the mountain Bubba is getting close to OTJ #4 time soon.

Interesting that you mention coQ10. I was re-reading up on it this morning to see if a doable and what best bioavailable form of it might help Azalea. A few years ago I tried ubiquinol liquid form and it yielded barf ups. what brand does the member who pm'd you use? :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thanks Kathy. Hope your weekend is relaxing.

Azalea is a "steady as she goes" girl that's for sure. She always finds a way to make lemonade out of lemons. ;)

The first few days after the accident were pretty raw but much improved now. Grateful it wasn't worse. The other driver's insurance might be affected because she was the at-fault party.

Glad you like the rug. I've enjoyed doing it....already musing ahead to next project after this one is complete!

Have a great rest of the weekend :D!

Hey Sina, it's Sharon14 and she just ordered some. Here is a site she gave me.

https://www.onlynaturalpet.com/products/Vetri-Science-Coenzyme-Q10-Dog-Cat-Supplement/125034.aspx

I hope it helps!

Bubba has had some issues with diarrhea, hairballs, and throwing up ( seems like an IBS flair to me) so, this has been slow going with getting him into all greens again. Also, I just realized that maybe I should not be giving the SEB syrup at the same time as the insulin. So, tonight I will not give it at PM and see if his absorption is better. Thx for asking. :bighug:

Did you read this somewhere? I always did(and still do with the MMR), but have wondered about that. I figured it just affected the absorption within the directive track. I am concerned about nutrition absorption (food).

Sorry Sina, don't mean to hijack your thread :bighug:

No, I didn't read it anywhere it just popped into my head today. If you shouldn't give SEB along side of other supplements and medicines, it occurred to me that maybe it effects the absorption on the insulin as well. (even though insulin is a hormone) Thought I would try it tonight's cycle and see if I can get some movement. Look at Bubba's SS the last 2 days. He is hardly moving.

I'm sorry too Sina for high jacking :bighug:

SEB should not affect the absorption of any meds that are not given orally. It should have no effect at all on insulin absorption. It will block some nutrition absorption, which is why it's recommended to only use it for fairly short lengths of time. I have used it for a month at a time with no problem, but ECID! Hope this helps you guys!

@HWright I'm sorry, too, to hijack your thread, Sina! Please forgive!:bighug:

Thanks for that info Lucy! I PM's Jayla also and she said the same thing that insulin attaches to molecules and should not be effected by SEB. It was worth a try cause sigh.

Sorry again, Sina.

@Bobbie And Bubba @LizzieInTexas @Squalliesmom : ntw it's not a highjack it's more like a confluence...and a very helpful one, too.

Bobbie, when I read yours about SEB and insulin, I did an omg bc SEB was one of Sootie's supplements at mealtimes same as insulin times.

So I'm glad we've had this SEB discussion! Thank you! :bighug:

And @Bobbie And Bubba: hope Bubba feeling better soon. Have you tried cbd oil?

And @carfurby: Furball is a steady stalwart fella....hope his bg's find the sweet zones in blues and green again. He is a fortunate fellow to have such a super mama bean: you!:bighug:

Bubba feeling better soon. Have you tried cbd oil?

I'm thinking about trying it!
Hijacking again - just FYI - Gizmo won't eat food with the CBD oil in it - I haven't given up completely yet, but have gone back to the Canna (capsules) for now. I know you are having issues with eating anyway, so just wanted to give you a heads up. He has no issues with the powder from the capsules.

Yes, with mixed results so far. That is, initially Spunky, for one, literally ejected oral doses but smaller amounts in food was ok. At the time when I started looking for liquid cbd, I went with Pet Releaf, bc it was closest to what Les's vet had provided for Gussie and had good/safe hemp source and testing information.

Right now, they're all tolerating it in food, even the sensitive gi ones (Bella and Spunky). To my taste buds, its bland but I'm not a cat ;)

I haven't tried the canna capsules that Lizzie mentioned. For the tribe here, liquid made more sense at the time.

The other day, Laurie Goldstein (food fur life) posted in fb about trying Charlotte's Web cbd oil (they're the people who developed a version that's been effective in treating seizures) on one of her cats with breathing problems. She reports good results and provided a lot of info, more than I'd be adept at relaying. If you're fb'y, she is Laurie Save Samoa Goldstein and posted this weekend with update and video about her white cat Flowerbelle.

Here are links to both cbd products I mentioned:

Thats good to know, Lizzie. Initially I thought about powdered canna, but wasn't sure if the taste would put them off (they're used to some TCM combos that they tolerate better as crushed t-pills rather than the powders). That's one of the reasons I opted for the liquid plus the tribe seems to be more obliging with liquid dosing or mixed in food vs pills or capsules. ECID that's for sure.

Ntw about "highjacking" here! All helpful info. All in the family.
And leads to question: would a thread about cbd (such as Amanda did with pancreas booster) be beneficial in fdmb or ll&l?:bighug:

Hi Sina, I'm incapable of "highjacking" on this subject (on most subjects!), but just wanted to say hi. I'm glad you wern't badly injured in the accident and hope that you are 100% better now. Lots of vines for Azalea's mouth issues.

The rug looks great!

Hugs and scritches,

Hi Sina! I wasn't on much over the weekend, so missed your updated until now. Glad to see the tribe is doing relatively well. Special scritches to my sweet Azalea. I'm sorry she's having mouth issues. Is it hindering her eating? Sending appy vines, just in case. I think you are onto something with the autoimmune theory. There has to be some correlation, since it only happens when she has a mouth flare. I hope it is all resolved soon.

Eek! On your accident, and thank goodness you only had some soreness (although I'm sure that was more than annoying). I hope you are feeling much better now.

Love the rug. I did a rug or two a few years back, before the arthritis made any hand crafts too painful. Really enjoyed it.

Keep the updates coming - we love to hear from you!

Hi Sina - love the rug - many years ago, I used to hook rugs but I got out of the habit.

Sending lots of vines for Azalea. and so sorry about the car accident. Hope you are feeling better by now and your neck is okay

I just ordered canna oil for Murphy, but now I'm wondering if I should have gotten the powder. I agree that a thread or more info on it would be a great idea.
Lots of hugs, Sina

Glad to hear all the members of the tribe are doing well. I love seeing your updates!

I double yes that and forgot to respond to that question .

Ok, let's do it and this includes for any and all who'd like to help get it started and contribute! Best way to start, to approach subject in dedicated thread? :bighug:

Hugs and scritches,

Ella, Thanks for well wishes for Azalea and her creaky bean. Im feeling more on the mend (though having to strip bed and launder pee'd on bed linens not once but twice this weekend didn't help :banghead:. Steve thinks Dancer was the culprit, territorial bc Azalea had resumed sleeping on that bed. But I'm thinking uti and bringing Miss D to vet (oh my).

Love hearing from you and we send lots more hugs and vines for Rusty to continue to feel better.

Thank you, Tricia and hope all is well with you and your Tribe.

Azalea's mouth was looking a little better last night..and ate almost all her supper on her own. A day isn't a day for Azalea, though, without her cuddle time on bff Steve's lap to watch together whatever sports he's following on tv. He's got the drool mitigation routine down pat ;)

I hear you about hands not being as agile as in earlier years. Some days my hands are ok, others not at all. Si, we go with the flow and adapt as we can, yes?

Stay well and always wonderful to hear from you. :bighug:

Hi Carol, how are you all and great to hear from you. Glad you like the rug project, it's been a good exercise in getting back into hand work.

Thanks too for your vines for Azalea and well wishes for this creaky bean. Both on mend thanks to everyone's love and vines. We are ever grateful and send heaps of vines your way, too. :bighug:

@Gussie's mom: hej Les, god dag og tak for alt :bighug::bighug:
