Radar needs mirtazapine every 4 to 5 days because without it his eating drops off to almost nothing. So we have now put this treatment in our weekly routines for the time being. We wish we understood what was going on but other expenses in the family have forced us to delay the exploratory ultrasound that the vet wants to do. I'm not convinced that the $300 or so it will take will actually tell us anything. So for now we are just monitoring carefully and intervening when necessary to keep him eating.
Other than the eating issues, Radar seems to be doing well overall. I'm thinking that his dose may still be too high as we keep seeing 300s in the morning. I'll try to catch him in the middle of the night again soon to more precisely see what the current dose is doing.
