B/G METER RECOMMENDATIONS PLEASE

Hello, my cat was diagnosed 2 months ago. I want to start testing his b/g at home. I was going to buy the reli On micro, but apparently it was discontinued. Can anyone recommend one that works well and is affordable? Thank you all.

 

Hi. I use an AlphaTrak2 pet meter and strips. The strips are very expensive, so some people use different kinds of strips in it. The majority of people here use human meters.

Walmart also has 3 new human meters. Only difference is the blood sample is 0.5ml while the confirm/glucocard is 0.3ml size.

 

I use the Alphatrak with primarily freestyle insulinx strips.

 

I have a Bayer/Ascension Contour NEXT EZ meter. Basic, simple to use. Starter kit is $20 at the drug store, $9 at ADW. I can usually find 100 test strips on Amazon for $20-$25.

If you are concerned about ketones, and don't want to try to test urine samples, you could get a meter that measures both glucose and ketones. The Keto-Mojo I bought was $60 for the starter kit, $1 each for the ketone strips, and glucose strips are $30 for 100. Good documentation, videos and other information on their web site, very nice customer support.
