Good Morning L, B, & L ~

The paw pad testing is going.......well let's just say that Bubba is trying to be patient. The paw pads aren't bleeding very well and perhaps I am not giving the milking long enough and poke him again and sometimes again and he gets quite irritated. The Bubba Daddy helped me last night and it takes a lot longer.

This morning I did it on my own and after a beautiful sample he jerked away before I could get the test strip to it. :banghead: Learning curve.

His ears are still red. They were looking a bit better but as instructed by the vet I used some clorahexadine to wash them and then they got redder! I think it's just going to be the steroid ointment from this point on. My Halo still has not arrived. Boo Hiss.

Vines to all Beans and Kitties in need.

OT:

Taking Mom to have an echo done on her heart. Hopefully, that will give us some direction for her AFIB.

Prayers to you and your momma, Bobbie :bighug: For first time ever the whole family went to a restaurant in St Louis where my mom lives because at 96 she no longer easily travels ...it worked out beautifully AND I did not have to cook :woot:

Yeah in no cooking! Luckily, my inlaws are lovely people whose company I enjoy and they are so appreciative of all I do. I am so glad your visit was good !

Did you dilute the chlorahexadine? My vet suggested diluting 1 part to 8 of water or even as much as one in 15. It worked really well on a sore. I put it on for 10 minutes, then a dab more for another 10 minutes, then wiped it off. Sending vines for those ears to heal ASAP.

The vet office impregnated 4 X 4's in a baggie with the solution and did not say to dilute it. The instructions were wipe pinnas ( learned a new word) once or twice a day as needed. I might try diluting one of the wipes and trying it again. Thanks Wendy.

It takes soooooo long for the pad to give up a decent blood sample........ DH helped again tonight. I didn't get scratched or no attempted bites this time.

Mom's echo is behind us. We almost didn't make it to the appointment. She had another episode and I didn't think I would be able to get her fed , dressed and in the car, but she rallied. She was a trooper. I explained we HAD to get this test done so we could get a plan rolling to get her feeling better.

The technician said "Unofficially, the structure of the heart looks good . I did not see any issues". I asked if the valve looks okay and she replied yes. This is great news and hopefully she can try meds to help the crazy rhythm. The tech said at Mom's age the plan would be very conservative.

We are both wiped out.

:blackeye:

What a day for you, your mom, and Bubba! Hopefully all will be easier from here on in. Are you warming Bubba's paw? I think it might be more soothing to warm it with a microwaved damp washcloth in a plastic baggie than with a rice sock, which can be lumpy. Maybe a thinner lancet would work better than one of those nails!

Wow! What a day...another one! I hope the easier days are coming, and SOON! Poor DM, poor Bubba, poor Bobbie and thank goodness for DH! I'm rooting for all of you and so is Tiny! Hang in there and I hope you get the answers and relief for your mom that she, and you need! XOXO

Good news about your Mom, Bobbie. Hope the official report is the same
I still don't understand a bacterial infection of both ears only affecting the ears. Is there any pus or bad smell or red streaks? Has anyone had a cat with such a problem? I agree that full strength clorahexadine could be irritating. Poor Bubs
