    Yesterday

    Good Morning L & L ~

This is a better start after bumping him up a bit more last night's cycle. Hopefully after the depot fills, he will be back in the lagoon full time again. :)

Prayers going out to all the Florida victims and their families and friends after yesterday's heinous shooting.

Vines to all Beans and Kitties in need.

OT: Momma is really going to start back her exercise program today and take a long walk with my BBF as it is going to be a warmer day. ;)

What keeps me doing a workout 6 days a week is the guilt I give myself if I don't. Not sure if that's the right thing for motivation, but it works for me :).

Paul, I used to do the same thing, well 5 days a week, first thing in the morning. Then, I skipped a day, then another day and before you know it, I was AWOL for 6 months! I feel like a slug and look like a burrito. :blackeye: It is disheartening to start to go back up in size again when I had done such hard work and had reduced 4 sizes and 21 lbs and 13 inches! GEEZ But, I am not at my biggest size again so it was time to reel myself back in.

Just finish a half hour of PIYO and I feel so much better! :)

    " True Confessions" LOL

Yes. This! If I can stay in my routine I'm fine but as soon as something interrupts it for more than one day then it's all over.

One of my cats has been very sick, he has been to his vet a lot over several weeks and we also have been out of town to see an Opthamalogist (spelling). Seems he has glaucoma in his right eye and the pressure would not come down. The specialist wanted to take his eye out on Monday, but I at least wanted to try some meds for a few days. The specialist thinks this is caused maybe by cancer. He is going to see his vet tomorrow, who has been in touch with the specialist and the way thinks look now he will have his right eye taken out on Saturday. Do you have any encouragement, having went through this or something like this.

Hi Teresa. I think I know all the emotions you are going through right now. The thought of his eye being removed used to keep me up at night but I knew if we were going to save his life, the eye had to come out so the cancer would not spread. Bubba's eye was removed before the glaucoma could set in as it is very very painful and with Bubba being diabetic I could not risk him being in so much pain that he would not eat.

Did your kitty have dark areas on the iris? That is how Bubba's started. The regular vet called it Freckling. It is common to orange cats. When the freckles started to grow and looked raised and velvety, that is when we were sent to the Ophthalmologist vet. They confirmed that it looked like cancer and the eye should come out. If we waited, glaucoma would set in and the lens would rupture and he would be in a lot a pain. His cancer was called Diffused Iris Melanoma. Just curious, is your kitty an orange cat?

You are doing the right thing to get your baby out of pain and if it is cancer, you could save his life.

After the operation was done, he was surprisingly comfortable. They gave him pain meds right after the surgery and instructed me on round the clock bup and he didn't miss a beat eating. Of course, he will be wearing the "cone of shame" ( which I took off when he was eating and put right back on) to prevent them scratching at the site. Bubba looked really good after the surgery and I was quite surprised. I can post a post op photo if you would like.

Sending you lots of hugs and emotion support. If I can answer any questions that could help you, please let me know.

I appreciate your post, it has calmed me down a lot. My cat is @ his vet at this time having this procedure done. This cat is grey, he has had problems with this eye in the past, so when it bothered him again I thought it would be the same as before. Not so, I had been taking him to his vet, but for some reason she did not catch that he had glaucoma. She told me last Saturday that he needed to see an Opthalmologist, there are no Opthalmologist vets in the town I live in. I live in Indiana and I have been told that we only have 3 in this state. I found one in Indianapolis, about one and a half hours away. I could not get him in till later in the week and his vet said he needed to be seen right away. On Sunday I took him to Indy to the Opthalmologist office, which is part of a 24 hr emergency hospital, they took him through the ER and kept him. On Monday the Opthalmologist saw him and wanted his eye taken out, we decided to try him on meds this week and if it helped. She felt like the glaucoma was caused by something else, maybe cancer. She said that he is starting to have a problem with his left eye, so I am using 2 different drops on both eyes. He could no longer see out of his right eye, we decided to take it out and see if we could find out the cause, hoping we can help him. I am sure I will get scared and be trying to get a hold of you later tonight. Leaving to pick him up. I would like to see a post-op picture of your kitty, I have long admired how handsome he is.

IMG_2427.PNG Here's a before and after. You can see the freckling in his right eye. Don't let the dry blood freak you out. It was normal for there to be some seepage for a few days . I left the site alone and let the vet clean it up when he returned in a week for suture removal . The photo by the sofa, you can see how it just looks like he's winking IMG_2729.JPG IMG_0430.PNG

That Bubba is one good looking Kitty. I can see the freckling in his right eye. If a cat has freckling in their eye, what does that mean. Did Bubba need to have anything else done to his right eye, or take any special meds. Does he have any problems with his left eye.

When I brought my cat home, it seems as though he cannot get comfortable, he just keeps moving around. He had a 3 day Bupe shot, I hope it has kicked in. When I have seen him so far, he has had no bleeding. Tonight, later he ate a small amount of wet food, I did not give him very much. Poor Kitty, I know he is in pain. I hope he can do as well as Bubba has.

Teresa, I know you are so relieved to have this behind you. And I hope that your baby heals quickly and is comfortable. Just the general anesthesia alone can have them be out of it for at least 24 hours. And eating small amounts after returning is better for them. Bubba wanted to hide the first 24 hours. The post op picture I posted, he was crotched in my closet.

I had not heard about a 3 day Bupe shot before. I think I was giving prefilled syringes enough for 5 days. But, it can be very constipating and Bubba all ready had issues with that, so when I knew he seemed pain free, I stopped after about 3 days.

The freckling can be benign; it is when the freckles become raised and velvety looking that cancer is suspicious. There was not any meds to be taken for the freckling. And so far, his left eye is okay. Cataracts can be an issue for diabetic cats so that is something to be monitored.

I hope you have a quiet weekend and that your baby fares well. If you feel he isn't comfortable, I'd call the vet. Bubba was giving a shot of something other than Bupe, post op and the Bupe came home with him. It was the combination of the two that was a good combo for pain.

My cat yesterday did not eat, this morning I gave him an appetite stimulant. He likes to lay in a small cage and I put blankets and different things in it so it will be comfortable. While I was at the vet yesterday, I got a piece of material that they use in surgery and put on top of the his things in his bed so he would not get blood on everything, then gave him his blankets. I did notice a few small spots of blood, but none on the area where his right eye had been. I had to almost crawl into the cage and hold his food up to his face to get him to eat a little can food. I can tell he is better than yesterday, but I don't know how much. He is setting up and yesterday he was just laying around. I may run him in to see his vet tomorrow, unless he is doing push ups by that time. This cat is not diabetic. My cat Buddy is diabetic and that is another long story. Buddy is blonde, I am going to start paying attention to his eyes.

I had a red female cat for 16 years and she passed on 11/8/2017. She had cataracts on both eyes, the pricing I got was around $4000.00 per eye. By the time I found out what was wrong she was pretty old and I did not have that much I could spend. She stayed in my bed room all the time and she had certain routes she traveled, if she got off her route, she would back track and start over.

If Bubba tried to hide the first 24 hrs., maybe my kitty is doing all right. It has been so helpful to know how Bubba did with his surgery, I am hoping my kitty will perk up like Bubba did.

I would say if he isn't eating better and coming around a bit better by tomorrow, I would call the vet who did the surgery and see what they think.

Sending lots of good healing vines your way! :bighug:

I just want to add that Bubba has always been a really good eater, so for him to stop eating or not being interested in eating really gets my attention.

This cat usually is a good eater. He did eat a little today, but I gave him an appetite stimulant. The other cats know something is wrong, they are all staying away from him. His vet (did the surgery) will be in tomorrow, so I will take him in.

It would help if I could spell, I mispelled almost everything on the second line, of my last post. Sorry, Bubby & Bobbie. Took my cat today to see his vet, no temp, but she gave him fluids. She said she wasn't surprised that he was not eating very much. She said that she hoped the fluids would perk him up.

I hope the fluids do it. Sometimes when Bubba is off his feed, I get plain all meat baby food either chicken , turkey or ham. He loves it and will gobble it up usually. It's not a complete food source for cats so for a couple days to no more than a week is okay. It might just jumpstart his appy again.

I took the cone off Bubba while he ate so he had better acces to his plate and then put it right back on when he was done. That might help him to want to eat also.

He did eat some AD after we came home and then he ate a little more canned food. I do think the baby food is a good idea, I never thought of it, until you mentioned it. Another senior moment.
