Good Evening L & L ~

Today's blue didn't surprise me as he had no poop yesterday and he had some low numbers ( surfed in the 50's for almost 4 hours yesterday.

OT: My hair dresser lives 6 weeks in Puerto Rico and 6 weeks here. She was here during Hurricane Maria but unfortuantly her parents were not. Their house was 1/2 destroyed . Margie, my hairdresser, her living quarters on the ground floor are under water. There is no power and no water there. Margie is flying back on the 1st to help her parents and she has tickets for them and their dog to fly to the states on the 9th. They are being told it could be as much as 6 months to 1 year for power to be restored!!!!!

My heart is heavy and I tried to get together supplies for her to take back with her and gave her a large suitcase to take full of supplies that they are having trouble getting, battery operated lamps, votive candles and evaporated milk and gave her a "brew a cup" coffee maker that she can use a "drip" coffee maker into a mug. Coffee is important......

She can not take any thing flammable with her for a camping stove so we got her info to make an alcohol stove and she will carry a few bottles of 99 % alcohol so she can boil water ( for coffee and rice) She will have to live without water and electric for 9 days until she can get her parents out of there.

Her dad is diabetic and his insulin is comprised without power. I gave her my www.FRIOCase.com that I had just posted on Sandy and Chase's thread yesterday to keep his insulin temperate.

It is just mind boggling the conditions people have to live in and until it was someone I know, I don't think I got the full impact. Sorry for the rant. Again, my heart is heavy.

Vines to all Beans and Kitties in need.

Wow, what a heartbreaking story. You're so right that the impact doesn't hit us until we are personally connected in some way. I'm so glad you were able to send some much needed supplies (and :coffee::coffee::coffee:!) with her. Sometimes it's too easy to forget that Puerto Ricans are our fellow citizens. Can you imagine a city in the States not having power for six months to a year?!?! Prayers for your friend and all of her family. Please be sure to give us an update when they are safely arrived.

:bighug:

Your kindness will be rewarded. It makes it so much more personal when it impacts someone we know. I will keep her and her family in my prayers as well as the whole island.

Oh Bobbie... it is so unfathomable how great the need and that they have to beg for help for the basics ( broke my heart hearing the audio clips today) just is mind boggling to me....it feels so very, very wrong:bighug::bighug: You did a very wonderful thing and the care and thought you put into what you did shines through every word of your post :bighug:

The conditions in Puerto Rico are tragic. Kudos to you for helping someone you know and her family. These little things can go a long way toward making them feel a bit more "normal". I can't believe it's going to take that long to get power restored!!

Bobbie, I am so thankful that you are able to help this family. The situation in Puerto Rico is desperate. I only hope that the government can get its act together and finally deliver aid.
Our hearts go out to our fellow citizens.

What's going on in Puerto Rico is absolutely devastating - it's hard to imagine. I wish that the whole island - or anyone who wished - could just be evacuated for as long as necessary so that people could feel safe and secure. Surely we could make this happen, couldn't we? Heartbreaking - just heartbreaking. Well done, you, for helping. Well done!
