Start Low & Go Slow should be the mantra for everyone, regardless of the type of insulin used, who is not intensively monitoring their cat's glucose levels.

Please don't put your cat in danger.

Here is the reference to the original version of the Start Low, Go Slow (SLGS) approach to diabetes regulation: http://felinediabetes.com/start-low-go-slow.htm.

Here is the reference to the Start Low, Go Slow (SLGS) approach to diabetes regulation for Lantus or Levemir users: Lantus & Levemir - Start Low, Go Slow Method (SLGS).

Please be aware that you should not be adopting the dosing protocol of "Tight Regulation" Lantus/Levemir administration if you are not doing the frequent testing this method requires.
